The flat was clean and nicely decorated with enough towels and pillows. Alex was very good at ensuring we knew how to check out and any further information...always answered his phone which was great! The area was near to a few shops and cafes but we had a car and would drive out anyway to the main centre of the city which was only 10 mins away or so. There is a bus stop nearby but not sure where it goes. Decent value for money close to main centre but parking can be difficult. Most times we were parking a couple of streets away and walking back...not an issue as such unless you carry lots of heavy shopping in! Also the keys to the flat kept getting stuck in the door very annoying but I'm sure can be easily fixed. There are a few families in the block and the constant noise and running that can be heard may bother some folk.

We picked this place near the Alicante train station because we would be arriving late and didn't want to make the 2 hour drive that night to La Manga. Anyways, we had alerted the owner of the situation and he said it was no problem. We get to the apartment and there is no one to let us in and the owner didn't answer multiple calls. Finally he calls back and says he'll send someone. The guy he sends looked like a big Russian mafioso and the owner said he wanted 50 euros late fee and 20 euros cleaning fee in cash or he won't let us in. Faced with this highway robbery and no assurance the flat was livable, we decided the drive to grandma's house late at night was preferable.

We arrived at 2.30pm for a 3.00pm check-in. No-one arrived!! Eventually we asked a local guy to call the number stated by Hotels.com as our mobile phones did not work. Someone eventually turned up with keys at 4.30pm ..no aplogy that we waited on the doorstep for 2 hours. We had to pay 50euros "in cash" for the apartment to be cleaned, although only there for 2 nights,on top of the retal already paid. We went out to the local supermarket to buy supplies as we were self catering, but couldn,t get into the apartment. We got through the street door, went to the first floor and the key turned in the lock but the door would not open. Got neighbours to try without success. It was now dark and we were sat on the stairs outside the apartment unable to get in. My wife managed to access a "skype" call to call the owner. He said he would not come for 2 hours. We tried to call Hotels.com but the number rang and rang until it disconected. We eventually managed to get the door open around 9.00pm by having to lay back pulling the door towards you using all of your weight to free the catch which we discovered jammed every time we went out. We only found out by trial and error by one of us on the outside and one on the inside, after many tries getting locked out my wife discovered the problem. The one positive is that the apartment was huge with 3 bedrooms for the 2 of us. Another negativewas that there was no heating or cooling(air con) and we sat with coats on in the evening cold at night
