Stayed for 3 nights at the end of Golden Week. Was very well looked after, the food provided with the half board package was excellent. Drcided to stay here based on cost and location - was not disappointed.

Nice traditional rooms - clean and good-sized. Loved the onsen/bath! Right on an easy bus route 3 stops /6 minutes from Shimoda station and another 5 stops/10 mins or so to Shirahama Beach. Cons - no wi-fi in rooms. Staff not very welcoming or friendly. There’s a Jonathon's family restaurant and a 7-11 but other than that very limited dining options within walking distance but Shimoda is very sleepy so without a car your options are pretty limited unless staying in the ‘city’

Excellent and friendly staff! Front desk clerks spoke English and took time to explain the hours of operations for the onsen, restaurant and lobby. Check in and out was a breeze! Hotel is in great shape. Bathrooms were recently renovated, and very nicely done. Huge by Japanese standards, too! Room was spacious (easily comfortable for a family of 4 with room for luggage even!) and had an excellent view! Fridge and tea was in the room as well as towels and robe for the onsen (yukata). Futon mattresses were the best I've slept on in Japan, although I did double them up (personal preference). View of the ocean is amazing for the price. Road noise was minimal at night, just soft whooshing of passing cars. Road activity picks up around 7am, and some construction started at 9am. Overall, can't beat the price for how great this place is! Location was super convenient too. There's a Jonathan's restaurant and a 711 right downstairs, and downtown Shimoda is a 7-10 minute walk. There's a museum across the street with more food options and a scenic Commodore Perry replica tour ship. Honestly, my stay here was better than the Tokyo Hilton, and at a fraction of the price. This will be my go-to base of operations for all future Shimoda trips.

Very nice traditional style hotel. There is a strong smell of tatami but that is expected, and you get used to it quickly. Well situated to visit the local town or the beach via bus. Friendly staff, and a very nice onsen on the second floor. A relaxing and enjoyable stay!

Great location and view. Rooms are getting a bit worn down but they are very clean. For foreigners, keep in mind that futon/tatami beds can be a bit firm if you are in the bulky side if things.

Great location and view from the room. Beaches five minutes away by car in one direction. City ten minutes away by foot in the other direction.

The Hotel is quite quiet due to the area and season, however the room is big enough for 4-5 people.

Pros : Ocean view, clean Tatami room, lots of clean towels, huge hot spring bath, free parking, convenient store is close by. Cons : WiFi is available only lobby area, not in guests rooms. Smoking area is right in front of elevator, very stinky. Room key is a simple key with a big key chain, and NOT Auto lock.

Nice ocean view hotel. Bathrooms are nice and modern. Having futons for beds, I would expect to have tatami floors, but they are linoleum. No wifi in the rooms, only on the first floor. Common hot springs were empty besides us both times we went, so that was nice. Our futons were a little wet possibly from the hot springs condensation from the floor below us? We were on the 3rd floor. Hot springs are on the 2nd floor.

Quick and efficient check-in. Room was quite big (can easily fit 4 tatami) with separate bathroom and toilet. Nice view with a waterfront park right across the street. Quiet premise and surrounding areas. Downside being not much of eatery choices in immediate area. Just a Jonathan’s diner, a small beef place, and a sushi place 5 mins walk away (but it closes at 8:30pm with last order at 8pm). Another thing is that the hotel has split level on all guest room floors, so be prepared to carry your heavy luggage’s 3/4 steps on the way to your room.
