I thought the property was very nice inside with the use of traditional Japanese styles of the tatami rooms and comfortable beds as well as the sliding rice paper doors. It had a great shower room, which could be used like a Onsen with a deep soaking tub and short stool with bucket. But even with these traditional styles, you could’ve easily taken a standup shower. Washer and dryer worked great. Kitchen is well equipped. Breakfast was delivered promptly every morning, however, might recommend they vary the breakfast content. Customer service was A , especially with Mako, Mina and Kimmy. Large grocery store and small Lawsons convenience store located within five to ten minute walk. Two minutes to the train station, which is a direct route to old town Asakusa. We are already planning our return visit.

We loved our stay in Araiya! The house was absolutely beautiful, with such attention to detail. We were perfectly comfortable and will return next time we're in Tokyo. The hosts were very welcoming and made us a delicious breakfast each morning.

Fantastic accommodation, traditional Japanese house, very comfortable for our whole family. The location is a bit out of the way, but access by subway is ok. Stay here if you want authentic Japanese with mod cons, done to a very high standard

What a fantastic family hotel! I say hotel a little loosely, because it is really a family house that you can rent for a night or several. Watanabe-san may be the most hospitable person we have crossed on this planet. Not only did he open the door while we were getting organized outside his establishment, but he did not panic or get upset when our littlest (6 years) immediately stepped with shoes on the internal floor. After showing us the wonderful accommodation, he asked if we were wanting to eat, knowing we had just completed a trans-Pacific flight. We were thinking this hospitality would translate into a recommendation or two for the local area. But no - he actually went to the restaurant with us to translate the menu and order for us. After declining our offer to eat with us, he departed, only to return 15 mins later to make sure everything was to our liking and to ensure we did not need further assistance. He was then waiting for us upon our return to go over breakfast and any further needs we might have before retiring for the night. Watanabe-san was their as agreed for check-out. But this wasn't just a business transaction - he was their with multiple pages of information on sights to see and foreigner-friendly restaurants at our next destination! I know from multiple trips to Japan how accommodating the Japanese people are. But Watanabe-san is an exception and someone with whom you will want to host you. Sumimasen Watanabe-san!!
