Nice overall property, right in the centre of the city, quaint historic charm, married with modern rooms.

Another stay at this fine centrally located hotel. Great room , clean and comfortable and quiet ( apart from other door slamming morons). The pool and hot tub are a bonus. It was a tad chilly in the room though.

Staff were really polite and the breakfast was lovely. Really comfy bed. Some parts could do with being updated like the shower for example but, to be honest, as long as things were working and, most of all clean, that's all I want from a hotel.

Grand old hotel with so much history

Great location in the centre of Carlisle. A nice, free car park - small but we managed to get a space. Lovely old hotel. The staff were friendly. Room nice but the TV didn’t work and the toilet wouldn’t flush properly. We managed the toilet but the TV remained a problem despite several requests to get the hotel to fix it. The room was well appointed. Great shower, nice toiletries and great tea/coiffed and biscuits in the room. Nice breakfast and the woman on as breakfast duty manager was superb.!the staff are great but the hotel just let them down a bit. The front door needs updating as it gives a poor first impression to what is a nice hotel.

Great location and room was okay. Pleasant hotel and would recommend for overnight stay. It was a little noisy.

Very convenient location. Lovely quiet room and pleasant helpful staff. Used room service for dinner and my niece said they were the best fish and chips she'd ever had. Pool and jacuzzi a definate plus just let down slightly by the changing area which is cramped and a little tired. Poor closure on shower door resulting in extremely wet floor with potential to be very slippy and made keeping clothes dry during changing difficult.

Old building, no air conditioning so it’s very warm inside. Breakfast is no good.
