Unique hotel, but the staff need to be more customer service orientated. When we checked we were handed the key and no words came out of the mouth of the person who checked us in, we didn't know where to go to find our room. When I asked he pointed to a hall. We were also accosted by another worker when we were outside enjoying a drink in the garden area, she was very rude at first telling us we couldn't drink alcohol we brought, we had to buy it there. We didn't know there was a "rule" about it. Her attitude change when we apologized for not knowing and also let her know what a horrible experience we were having at their hotel. I wouldn't recommend this place to foreigners.

The front desk help was not friendly. Breakfast had few choices and wasn't high quality. The pool was full of debris.

Unfortunately when we stayed there were floods in the local town and the older folks evacuated to the hotel. No fault of the hotel of course and they did let us cut short our stay with no issues. The decor is dated but with improvements it could be a great place.

The stay was very pleasant, but covid related closures and the status of certain facilities were not communicated clearly in advance, as such we were disappointed to find that we were unable to use gym, sauna and limited pool access.

We stayed a Klækken and the general impression is 'Nice enough, but not fantastic'. I am sure that the hotel was once full of glorious splendour, but is showing signs of aging that it may be past its prime, similar to the many of the guests. The hotel grounds are beautiful and well maintained, the staff at the reception were pleasant as you would expect but the kitchen and dining was a little chaotic. We stayed a few hotels during corona time while in Norway, but this one seemed the least organised. Breakfast was a 20 minute wait and dinner was only a set menu. Despite being a few months in to the corona situation, they still hadn't updated the simple, photocopied piece of paper adverting the cheaper, more appealing Summer buffet. Similarly, there wasn't even a drinks menu to see the price of a bottle/glass of beer or wine was. Both these things should have been very easy for a restaurant that seems to aim for 'fine dining'.

This hotel is a good choice, we sometimes stay here, the food is especially good. Sometimes there will be dinner parties hosted here.

Best hotel we’ve stayed in this trip. Dinner was excellent, breakfast outstanding. Location is a little off the main road but the facility was well worth the extra few minutes drive. The staff were welcoming and able to provide any information we needed.

Very comfortable overnight stay. Checkin was very easy, staff was pleasant, and breakfast was very good. Hotel interior was a little dated, but we had possibly our most comfortable night in Scandinavia.

The hotel is absolutely charming and the view from the room absolutely beautiful. Norway in general does not have really hot weather (90s). Many hotels in Norway do not air conditioning so we were given a fan to help cool off the room. Not as much as reflection on the hotel as on the very hot temperatures Scandinavia has been experiencing this summer.

We stayed here because of the pool which was great. Kids also enjoyed the outdoor chess. A very enjoyable stay. The room was older but still nice. Very quiet and cozy.

We were here for one night. The hotel staff did everything to make our stay comfortable. We arrived late on our check in day, although the dinner was officially closed, the staff arranged us dinner and it was delicious. the room was very comfortable, clean and well maintained. same goes for the bathroom. The buffet breakfast was great. there were loads of options and the timings are good as well. I would definitely stay here again. Down side is that its sort of in the middle of no where. Excellent choice for an en-route stop.

For those on the East Coast of the U.S. think of a very nice vacation resort in the hills of Pennsylvania. Then add a first class dining experience, casual elegant but comfortable "lounge" or grand salon with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside, many smaller and cozy meeting rooms located throughout the hotel. It is difficult to classify this hotel because of its intertwining uses and clientele. Outside grounds provide many places to sit and read or just think. Wonderful old bar, ecelectic decorations throughout the hotel.

Veldig god frokost.
