I was very disappointed and upset after my stay at the Shanghai Hotel. This is one of the worst “3-star” hotels I have ever stayed at. The following serious negative points are the reasons why I will never return:
1. Extremely poor hygiene
• Dirty room: lots of dust on the surface, especially the corners, cabinets and curtains.
• Dirty carpets, many stains, musty smell and clearly not cleaned regularly.
• The worst thing is that I saw cockroaches crawling in the room, an unacceptable image for any hotel, even a budget motel, let alone a 3-star hotel.
2. Unprofessional staff attitude
• When I complained about the room condition, the staff showed an indifferent attitude, not willing to support. The response was cold, without any apology or specific solution.
• When checking in/out, poor communication, not enthusiastic, sometimes even unpleasant attitude. I feel like I am bothering them which is the complete opposite of the service industry.
3. Poorly maintained, run-down facilities
• Old bathrooms, intermittent hot water, leaky showers.
• Room equipment (TV, telephone, tables and chairs) are old, loose and lacking investment.
4. Not up to “3-star” standards
I don’t understand what standards are applied to label this hotel as 3-star, but in reality the service and quality are worse than budget motels. This not only misleads guests but also affects the overall reputation of the local accommodation industry.
I share this experience with the hope that the hotel will seriously consider and comprehensively improve its hygiene, facilities and service attitude. If it continues to operate at its current quality, I believe that the hotel will continue to receive negative feedback and lose the trust of both domestic and international guests.
I will never return, and certainly not recommend this hotel to anyone.
