Fabulous staff. Wonderful all inclusive meal plan. The hotel was a close walk to lifts that allow easy access to slopes.

Hotel Takimoto has a very natural feel almost like you are staying in someone’s home. The circular fireplace is an excellent place to enjoy a drink before and after dinner and meet fellow guests. . The food was all delicious and varied. The ski rental shop on site is professional and helpful. The guests are a mix of Japanese and western travelers. The scenery is spectacular.

We loved our ski holiday at Hotel Takimoto. The all inclusive plan was great - so much included. Meals and drinks were great and plentiful, rooms were comfy, skis and boots were good quality, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an excellent central location with easy access to the extensive Shiga Kogen ski area. A bonus was being able to ski back to the front door. Rooms were a little warm as we had to keep them shut to deter monkeys. Would suggest a portable fan be provided. We would love to stay at Takimoto again!

Good location central to the Shiga Kogen ski fields. Down a driveway and across the road to the lifts. Excellent service, the team were exceptional. Food was good and the lounge area around the fireplace was a great spot to relax after a long day. The hotel itself like many in the area is in need of an update but was perfect for us.

Great stay at Hotel Takimoto. Had the all inclusive package which included all food, alcohol and snacks. Snacks/soft drinks/beer were available all day. Food was great, varied and presented well in a nice dining setting. Staff were friendly and helpful. Ski/snowboard hire included too. Ski boots and skis were of good quality and newish, however snowboards were not good. Lovely hotel with big fireplace and marshmallows to roast. Great place to relax after a day skiing. We had a family 5 bedroom room which had 2 separate rooms (2 single beds plus 3 tatami mats in another room). Location at Takamagahara was excellent - central to all the ski areas. After some initial issues with our booking, hotel Takimoto came good and we can happily say we had a fabulous stay and can recommend

Location is good, opposite is the ski resort, which has good snow. Overall room was well maintained, public Onsen was nice too. However we came during early ski season, there is barely any restaurants opens. Hotel cafe food is a bit expensive, and not much choice (mainly western). If plan to stay may order half board instead, or tell hotel staff to reserve dinner before 10am

We will definitely go back to Takimoto. It’s a great little hotel with everything you need - spacious boot and ski room, free lockers, day room, lounge with fire and free marshmallows for toasting every day, washing machines and tumble dryers, onsen, restaurant, wine and beer and an illy coffee machine. But most importantly the staff are lovely particularly Aki the manager and it is sooo close to the main Tagamaghara lift. One of the best ski holidays we’ve had. The decor is a little dated but so easily overlooked thanks to the above. One other thing to note - no shops nearby and restaurants at least 12 minutes walk so bring in what you need and go half board.

Takk Takimoto!
