Little tricky to find at first, as it's IN the palace and the door isn't especially obvious until you see it. Once you're there it's a fantastic spot, couldn't be closer to the center of everything in that area and the hosts are wonderful.

This was such a cute place to stay just inside the gates of the old city. Clean, good amenities and a really great location. The owner was so kind to us and so helpful. We are so thankful for him as we were very lost and he came out to find us. There is a winding staircase up to the room that made us feel like we were staying in a castle.

This property is in the best location! Stunning city with everything in walking distance. The little balcony is perfect, with a great view - and the hosts are incredibly helpful and friendly. We got an airport transfer with them - and we also left our bags with them when we went on a day trip on the day of our departure. Excellent apartment

The location is great just inside the wall, close to the water front. How ever there's 55 steps to the 3rd floor which is significant. Also we were there for 3 nights and we didn't have fresh towels. Also if you don't pay at the time of your booking, you have to pay cash, we have traveled in Europe a number of times and this is the first that we had to pay cash.

What an amazing location - it felt like we stayed in a castle. Fantastic, historical property inside the walls of Split. The narrow, spiral stairs to the 3rd floor would be tricky for some to navigate, especially with luggage, but was fine for us. Very clean and had all the amenities we needed. Would stay again.

Situated directly at the entrance of the gate it was really easy to find the place. The room had everything we needed.

Golden Gate was perfect for us - 2 women traveling together. There were 2 comfortable beds, fridge, AC, shower, coffee. Seemed to be recently remodeled. Easy access to Split beaches and sites!

Fantastic location, comfortable room with all the essentials and our room had a small balcony with two chairs and small table. Great host and fair price as well. As others have said, the old narrow circular stair case over three floors means that some people may have difficulty, or if you have lots of heavy bags.

Great property located to many central sites in old town split, many good restaurants and bars in the area. Close to Split port and bus terminal. Property communicates quickly, clean and cozy apartment.

Overall very clean and good. Liked the kitchenette. The bed kept sinking in, so that was not comfortable. But overall wonderful location in proximity to everything, I would stay again and recommend!

This was a good place to stay. The hosts were great and helpful. Just be mindful that you are climbing 3 floors that are curved and very old. Carrying heavy suitcases are very difficult. The place had wonderful charm and the bed was good.

Historical room within Palace walls. Staff very helpful. Winding staircase which I found charming but if you have mobility issues it may not be suitable.

The location is great and walkable to many sights. The owner is very nice to help us with the luggages up to the 3rd floor and offer a reasonable airport drop off fare when we left.

Perfect location in old town, right by the golden gates. Clean room, bare bones but did the job well! They provided a few great recommendations for restaurants. Sinisa was able to get us from the airport for a small fee. Would stay here again.

It is nice location you can go in from the park I loved it because it is close to everything and the owner very helpful very nice I recommend it you can ask if you need help with luggage.. 5 star

A really neat place to stay, in wall of Diocletian’s Palace. Hosts were responsive. Step outside of apartment and you’re right there in old town.

The location was incredible. People who saw us coming out of our place couldn’t believe we were actually staying there! We opened our doors to hear a small concert going on in the courtyard below - it was fantastic. Warning: you do need earplugs to sleep at night; but otherwise, the location at the gateway to Old Split was perfect.

Couldn't be more central- location is perfect. However, 56 spiral stairs to access the room, which was serviced only once during our 4 night stay. Towels were like cardboard! Not accommodation for guests with mobility issues. Staff helpful in arranging transfers and transporting cases.

The most historic place I’ve ever overnighted at. This one includes as the Golden Gate at Diocletian’s Palace as part of its walls. The huge limestone blocks were put together about 300 AD for the construction of the Palace the Roman Emperor built for his retirement in Split, Croatia. Two windows of the unit overlook the vestibule of the Palce’s Golden Gate entrance and a tiny one overlooks the park across the street from the Palace. While the comfortable unit is well- insulated with it’s thick walls, it also has modern appointments such as AC a refrigerator and a sizable bathroom with modern plumbing you’d see in any hotel. Travelers with physical limitations need to be aware the stairs to the second floor unit are narrow and steep- similar to historic buildings in Amsterdam. Great place to stay while visiting Split!
