Lovely place to stay and in a very good location. It has a lovely aesthetic and there was drinks and cake for guests waiting. I would leave a note for guests arriving early that they can leave their cars in the car park before check in as my partner kept going back to check with someone (anxiety) and there wasn't anyone around to ask. We stayed in the stargazer room which was quite small but cozy. My biggest issue with the room was the bed is noted as king size but it seemed like a double at most to me which meant I slept badly as I need room to due circulation/nerve issues in my arms. The view from the room was glorious, we stayed in the room in the evening and read while looking at the peaks. We couldn't see any stars due to clouds and I'm pretty sure there's a piece of the telescope missing, I may be wrong as I know nothing about them but there was no lens which I assume they need. The staff were nice and breakfast was lovely. Everyone was helpful and ensured we had everything we needed. They all seemed to want to make the guests happy.

What a fantastic place. We got such a friendly warm welcome, beautiful room, terrific breakfast. Central location is handy for going out for supper. My only niggle was that, because our room was on the ground floor, once breakfast service had started, we couldn't sleep due to noise of people and the radio.This was from about 7.30am.

Breakfast was delightful each morning! Also, our family appreciated the lovely sunroom, the helpful staff, the convenience to the village of Grasmere and countless footpaths, the treats put out each afternoon… we plan to return to the District and will stay at Victorian House!

A lovely room with a comfy bed and a very nice staff. You have to go elsewhere for dinner but breakfast was delicious. Recommend!

What lovely staff, so friendly. This is the best place i have stayed in yet on my Coast to Coast walk. Breakfast was amazing, apart from the usual full english (which loses its novelty after 5 days!) chose eggs benedict which was perfectly cooked and made a lovely change. Room was spacious and bed comfy. All together a great place to stay.

We had a pleasant stay. The room is big, clean and tidy. All the staffs are friendly and courteous. Susan at the reception made us feel very welcome. Breakfast is generous and good. We have no issue with carpark although it is on a first come first serve basis. Highly recommended.

Fantastic location, great hotel and the staff were absolutely fantastic (particularly Alex and Susan), super friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was tasty with your choice of hot food made to order. I will definitely be staying again in future.

The hotel is in the beautiful city of Grasmere. There was limited parking even though online advertised available parking. When I booked online, the family room showed two beds. When we arrived, there was only one. The plumbing was very noisy and the shower was very narrow and hard to use. The bed was not comfortable at all.

Victorian House in a great location and staff are very friendly and helpful. The room that we had was on the small size but did the job for the 2 night we were there. Would highly recommended anyone coming to this area to stay there as it is great value for money.

1) Even though our dog is very well behaved they insisted that he is not left unattended. This meant that we could not go out for meals and drinks. This policy is OTT. 2) Even though Grasmere is prime walking country, they would not swap my paid-for breakfast for a packed lunch. I thus had to go without. 3) Ended up paying for parking since their parking is limited to 7 cars. 4) They placed us in an annex with very noisy people upstairs; didn't sleep well. All of the above spoilt our enjoyment of this høtel.

Lovely spot right in the centre of Grasmere. Room was very comfortable and the water hot and heating on after a long day walking. All very clean. Breakfast was delicious and the staff attentive and friendly. Really, really impressed and would stay again.

It was our second stay at the Victorian and it won’t be our last. The room we had was very spacious and most definitely ‘dog friendly’. Our bed was comfortable and the breakfast experience was very pleasant with good quality food. Staff were very attentive and helped enhance our stay.
