Great hotel. Right downtown on the Main Street. Great shopping just a walk away. Restaurant tables outside which was great! Food was good. Would definitely stay here again. One draw back is no on-site parking.

While the room was clean we were disappointed in the room itself. We were provided 2 bath towels (no face towels and only one hand towel), no tissue paper was in the room, only two glasses and no coffee or tea. It felt like they provided the bare minimum. Of all the hotels we stayed in Iceland it was one of the most expensive but the most underwhelming.

The staff were friendly enough. Unfortunately when we entered into use room, it smelled like urine, especially in the bathroom, almost as if it hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly. The bed was situated awkwardly such that one person had to crawl over the other to get in/out of the bed. Our devices would not stay connected to the WiFi. We stayed during July, and our room would not cool down due to one tiny window being the only way to provide ventilation. Parking for this hotel was tedious as well (we had to park a block away). Unfortunately I cannot say we would stay here again.

Room was dusty and too warm. If you opened window it was very noisy. Hard to sleep either way, hot or noise. Front desk was just part of a very busy restaurant and he prepared to walk with your luggage but that's true in most places within the busy areas of Iceland.

Excellent stay at Centrum Hotel! The newly renovated room was beautiful, exceptionally spacious, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Everything was spotless, and the large bathroom and shower were a real highlight. The hotel bar had a cool, comfortable atmosphere—perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The food was also very good and exceeded our expectations. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend Centrum Hotel to anyone visiting Reykjavík.

If you stay at the Centrum, keep in mind you are at the epicenter of the downtown area. During the day, it is very busy. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and we loved how close the location was (with the Green Hat concert hall a block away) and the restaurant. We had an excellent dinner our first night at the hotel. It is close to everything - a walk up the street to the church and botanical gardens, and tons of dining options all around. We were a little surprised by the park across the street - which was well used by families and teens all day and into the night. They were gearing up to paint - so the noise from the park (kids banging on metal xylophone) and the construction was ever present. But again, you are sitting in the hub of downtown Akureyri. Also - you can't pull up to the hotel in the summertime because they close the street. It was a little tricky to figure out how to park and check in, but the hotel was very clear in what to expect upon our arrival.

Lady across from the building was throwing food to the seagulls on the roof outside my window. Very noisy! Also a used syringe was on the roof. Otherwise the room was good. No tv but great bed with a fan.

We were very disappointed with our stay and would not recommend this hotel if getting a good night’s sleep is important to you. Blackout drapes were a requirement for us when booking in Iceland in July, so we chose this hotel because it advertised them. Instead, our room had thin curtains with zero light-blocking ability. When I asked about it, the person at the bar said they didn’t work for the hotel and called someone on their cell phone. That person admitted the blackout drapes “hadn’t arrived yet,” meaning they knew they were advertising an amenity they didn’t provide. They were rude, offered no solution, and simply said we could leave, despite it being late, the town being essentially sold out, and us having driven for hours to get there. The room also didn’t match the photos. The bathroom had shower curtains instead of a glass enclosure, and the hairdryer was unusable. You had to hold a button the entire time, and the airflow was so weak I had to let my hair air dry. We expected some noise from staying above a bar in the city. That would have been fine if we could close the window, but there was no fan or ventilation, so we had to leave it open all night. Overall, the hotel did not provide the amenities it advertised, and the customer service made an already frustrating stay even worse.

Overall nice hotel. But no parking. Need to park the car in the city park. The hotel has 2 separated building. In one building, it doesn’t have wifi signal at all. A bit noise outside.
