A great 'bolt hole' bed & breakfast pub, & it does what it says on the tin. Friendly staff with practical bedrooms & facilities. And their breakfast was the best part of my stay !

Unfortunately we only stayed one night as there was no blinds for the windows (we had to put pillows up against the window) and there was a very bright emergency light on in the corridor of the bedroom which resulted in no sleep at all! We were up very early working the next day and were booked in for a few days but we vacated the hotel and booked somewhere else.

The walls are paper thin, it is 1:08am and I am listening to a gathering in the room next door. I can hear every word including all the effing and jeffing. The floor boards are creaking as people walk backwards and forwards. The room is clean but very basic, twin pine beds with a small pine chest in between . Enough hanging space but little drawer space.A broken hook and a hole in the bathroom door but it is clean in the bathroom. Can’t comment on breakfast but if it doesn’t quieten down next door then I doubt that I will be in a fit state to eat it. Shan’t be making a return visit.

Really friendly little pub with decent selection of ales. The room was spotless and cosy with an immaculate ensuite with plenty of toiletries,so I dont understand the grumpy reviews that people have given for a single room as the clue is in the name. Friendly locals in pub, even got offered to buy a drink and the breakfast was cracking. Not posh but I like that as the place was full of character and characters. I would definitely stay here again if I needed to. Lovely to see a place that is not boring and soulless.

Horrible, horrible, horrible! Be aware! Awful experience! Customer service is atrocious! Seriously, bad and terrible! Management is despicable! It’s sad how EXPEDIA allows this on their platform….

Paid £38 for a night in a solo room. Which was about 6 foot by 10 foot. Yes no joke, it was like a cupboard with no windows, but it had a radiator on which meant the room was really hot with only a stand up desk fan to try and cool it down (assuming you could figure out how the raditator worked because the knob is unclear what setting it's on. It's basically an annex to the main pub, which isn't probably one you would take your family too. Shared bathroom, which was decent enough though the pipes underneath the room leaked dripping into the corridor outside. Walls are paper thin so if you got neighbours, good luck. Breakfast was adequate, it's nothing special, a few basic items for a fried breakfast, some toast and cereal and coffee available. Standard. In the end you're paying a cheap price, but then you're getting cheap. Room alone is probably barely a £25 rate. I needed a quick solo stop off, it did the job, but if I was staying multiple nights, I'd be more hesitant.

Arrived on foot from the nearest bus stop. The pub hanging sign is missing so i entered the premises and confirmed with the cheery lady working the bar that i was in the right place😁 After the paperwork was completed i had to pay a £50 non-smoking deposit which i expect to see refunded onto my card. I was shown to room 13, a single room, as booked and also shown where the washroom was. The room contained a kettle, tea, coffee, a fan, a nightlight and a small flat screen TV, so was well appointed. The time for breakfast was also discussed and selected. All the staff i encountered were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was cereal, toast and also a cooked meal as well. Fried egg, grilled tomato, baked beans, 2 sausages and 3 rashers of bacon. Perfect! On leaving, i asked where the nearest bus stop was which headed out of town. Turns out that it is right opposite the pub! Again, perfect! For those driving, there is a car park accessible to the rear of the property via Chiltern Road.
