Pros: recently decorated room, comfortable firm bed, clean white cotton bedding, reasonably quiet, great view of river, free and plentiful continental breakfast with cereals, muffin/croissant, toast with jam & cheese, yoghurts, pleasant and helpful staff. Cons: room needed more detailed cleaning, shower head was stuck in holder and hard to adjust, skimpy tea & coffee in room & no decaf coffee, TV subject to atmospheric interference and channel hopping a challenge (maybe new batteries in hand set needed?), damaged fan and bedside lamp, windows didn't close fully and the handles were loose. There was a wedding party in the basement on Saturday night which had very loud music until midnight. Rusty curtain pole needing more rings and rusty radiator needing painting with rad enamel. Note that I booked the cheapest room which was a family room with river view. On arrival I was given Rm 305 which was very small, had nowhere to hang clothes and a very outdated accessible bathroom with a hole in the wall, a flimsy shelf over a sink that was cracked and a view of the river only by craning your neck. Although the website has the caveat that you may not get a room like the one in the picture I found this totally unacceptable. However the Receptionist was reasonable and I was given a more acceptable room. It was the helpfulness of Sanjit and the other staff on duty during my stay, its location a good 3 nights sleep and the view that made my stay reasonably pleasant.

A respectable hotel with a lovely view over the river. Good value for what you got however the rooms could probably do with a bit of an upgrade to modern standards. Staff were great no complaints here!

Although the staff were very kind and helpful, the maintenance and facilities of the property let them down. The restaurant advertised was closed down and the rooms were very poorly maintained with faulty taps, lights, iron etc. The water from the shower flowed over the whole bathroom floor with no where to go but out onto the carpet over anything you placed on the bathroom floor. The TV was not attached to the arial. There was much mould evident that had not been address. Over all it was so disappointing we checked out after only 1 night and have requested a refund for the unused night, but have not heard anything from the hotel.

The was comfortable, helpful staff, and breakfast was ok.

Our room and bathroom were spotless. Staff friendly and helpful. Plan to stay there again.

Stains, damage to walls, toe nail on carpet. Window condensation basic lock on door. Noisy guests doors being slammed all night. Horrid smell in hallways

on arrival we request more pillows as there was only 3 in a family room hours later returned to ask again no pillows turnt up , one of the beds had a big dip in the bed , there was cracks in the wall , breakfast was terrible no cooked couldnt call it continental there was cereal with gone off milk toast & choice of 2 muffins , tea & coffee, all in all over priced & will not say here again

The rooms and I say rooms because we had to refuse the first room which had faulty central heating, excessive water on bathroom floor and a bed with worn out mattresses. To add insult to injury they threaten to call the police instead of offering another room when my wife complained. The second room also had flooded bathroom, broken TV, faulty window and faulty heating we endured the three nights but will never return.

Could not be bothered to open up carpark for us. Sent us on a poorly instructed detour to park at rear of hotel. Lifts out of order. Got to breakfast and no knowledge of us paying for breakfast. Lack of cutlery at breakfast, just very poor customer service all in.

The room was clean, river view as booked. The staff were all first class: from the initial greeting at reception/booking in, through each member of staff on that desk morning & evening, to the lovely lady in charge of the breakfast area - every one was excellent and a credit to your hotel. One thing that needs to be addressed: There was no deadlock, working door chain, or other method of securing the door. I would not recommend that room for any solo female as there is nothing to protect them other than an easily bypassed Yale lock on the door. Please address this deficiency a.s.a.p. for the sake of your customers and their safety (and peace of mind). Thanks.

Everything was great except the bed need a new mattress,

The room was clean and tidy there was a very noisy party going on thoe and got no sleep till late hours of morning and bar was not friendly and no ice either

The room has been updated since my last visit - but for the money the hotel takes some beating. Half way between Rochester and Chatham with free parking - nice bar too !
