I cannot recommend this charming little hotel highly enough. My room was comfortable and I slept well every night. The location is safe and easily walkable to desirable areas in downtown Cocha. The complementary breakfast was always satisfying. All this for a very reasonable price.
What stood out, however, was the service. A few nights into my stay, I awoke feeling very ill. That morning, I was almost too weak to stand. Unsure what was wrong with me, I wanted to see a doctor. But I was in a foreign country where I did not speak the language. I was very concerned I would not get the help I needed. But Michelle, the hotel owner, came to my rescue. Not only did she arrange an appointment with a local clinic, but she spent her entire morning with me, driving me (along with her father) to the clinic and serving as my translator. This attentiveness continued as I recovered over the next few days: Michelle and her staff brought me breakfast in my room, brought be over-the-counter medications as I needed them, and generally checked in on me.
Such superlative care goes well beyond what I would expect from a hotel stay, and shows a true decency in Michelle and in the operation which she runs. I am very grateful. When I return to Cocha, I know where I will be staying.
