Parking was across the quiet narrow road and visible from inside very convenient. Room was lovely we had room 1 which had a balcony and picture window. Some facilities may have required updating however you have to remember this is a very old building and is sympathetic to its age and character. Staff were lovely food was good and wholesome breakfast used good quality ingredients. If you are looking for a modern all cons this is not the place for you if you are looking for a place to stay with amazing views full of character and good food and service this is the place for you.

We're not really sure why The Sloop was listed as a 4 star hotel. It is a modest place situated in a beautiful part of the Wye Valley. Our room was small (we did book a small double) with basic furnishings and an ensuite. The water pressure in the shower was challenging.
Supper was traditional pub grub that was tasty and enough for us. The whole place was very quiet (we seemed to be the only people staying) and there were a scattering of locals in the bar. The inn is set up to handle a substantial clientele so perhaps we were just staying late in the season.
The full breakfast (which is included in the room price) was excellent with a lovely waitress. Beautifully cooked.

There was an open mic on which was lovely. The room was basic but nice with tea coffe and soft drinks provided as well as toiletries. All nice and clean. Breakfast was lovely and staff friendly.

Friendly staff, quick check-in and plenty of parking. Good selection of food in the restaurant and a lovely breakfast.
Took a 90 minute stroll down to Tintern Abbey via the lane opposite the Sloop and saw lots of other walking routes along the way. Live music on the Saturday we stayed and well supported by friendly locals.

Good value and nicely located.
Hotels.com's check-in info was faulty:- stated as 3-11pm but the pub actually closes at 6pm on Sunday night. Fortunately when I arrived at 6.40 the landlord was still on hand, with my key at the ready - goodness knows what would have happened if I'd shown up at 10.30?

Undoubtedly good value for money. Food was very good and service also good. Used tea mugs were not cleared from the room. Beer garden is by the side of the main road , so not a place to spend a quiet couple of hours. Open mic night would have driven us out of the room if we had been planning to eat there. All in all it was satisfactory given the price but I would not return.
