Great historical site but I could not sleep in the room. It was very creepy. There was a picture of a nun who I presumed used to sleep there. The property is a renovated monastic cloister in a big funeral complex. What was stated in their website was that it is in a the DomusDela complex but I had no idea what type of business DomusDela is. Later I learned they deal with insurance and funeral services. Anyway the buildings are renovated, well maintained, and staff were pleasant. Also the decor in the reception room reflects the purpose of the structure. I did not realize this until I learned about DomusDela.
My only complaint was there are no clear signs where to go as the long halls can be confusing especially if you're on the cloister side. I went into a strange hall by mistake and the door locked behind me. There was a confessional and a room that made me think it was a punishment room or a torture chamber. I suppose my mind started playing tricks on me as soon as I realized I could not open the door. I called the hotel from my phone which took forever to get to the front desk. I did not know where I was but as soon as I mentioned confessional, they directed me back to the door and told me I could use my hotel key on the door. The door did not look like it had a fob reader so I did not realize this right away. Anyway after I got out of there, I went to the restaurant for a quick bite, and stayed in the room until check out. The place gave me goose bumps all night, although the view from my room was very impressive, a courtyard and a good size chapel/church. I hid under the covers to sleep with lights on. 😂 At this time, I just recently watched the movie The Nun, so maybe it affected me that way too.
