Great hotel near vatican

Friendly helpful staff. Great breakfast buffet. Roof top bar / restaurant was average and expensive. Rooms are nice but somehow had mosquitos. Great location, safe and walkable.

Eveyone was very welcoming ! The staff was really nice and the food options were great! Really enjoyed our stay in Rome! The parking garage was safe as well!

The hotel and room were clean and beds were super comfortable. The distance to public transportation was great. Not really close to tourist attractions but the easily accessible train and bus, made it a breeze. Nice rooftop too! The surrounding area was a little bit of an eyesore but it was safe nonetheless. It’s obvious that neighborhood is Rome is in the midst of gentrification.

Great staff, great hotel. If you want to be close to the Vatican it is perfect. Too far walk wise if you want to be in the heart of Rome, for the restaurants and night life. But overall a great stay.

Nice accommodating property and staff. Unfortunately, our room A/C didnt work so the room was steamy and hard to sleep in.

Nice hotel, front desk staff are exceptional and helpful. Rooftop bar staff are rude and slow and don't care if you're served. The breakfast is good but is disorganized with ine barista trying to serve hundreds.

Hotel was clean great location,food was great rooftop bar was fun!! Less crowded then other areas and the ppl are locals sitting at the café socializing!everyone was very welcoming

Loved the hotel! Room was large and comfortable! Loved our balcony! Staff was friendly and very helpful! It wasn’t near any attractions! Had to take a taxi everywhere! The positive is when you were sick of crowds it was an oasis!

I liked the proximity to the Metro, 5min walk. The hotel restaurant has decent food and they’re open until 11pm.

The rooms were clean and comfortable (albeit quite pricey overall) and location is in a lovely residential neighbourhood with food options plus within walking distance to the Vatican. However we knocked off a star because the professionalism and level of service from the reception staff left much to be desired. Most of the front desk staff seemed to be trainees who needed a lot of guidance from the more experienced staff at handling basic admin tasks. There were also two false fire alarms that were activated during our stay - the second alarm was activated at around 1am and people left their rooms only to be told it was a false alarm, however no apology was ever given by the hotel or staff for this. We had also told the reception twice about booking an airport transfer for us, and they assured that it was all taken care of. On the day of our flight, we were told by a trainee staff that no booking was made or listed on record, and we had to ask them to book us a taxi on short notice - again no apology was given nor any explanation offered as to how such a booking could go missing. The staff didn’t seem the least concerned to check or ensure a proper handover is done when they change shifts. Finally, do keep in mind that complimentary water is only provided for the first night - it is otherwise chargeable at £2.50 per bottle, although for a hotel it should be provided complimentary for all nights of the stay or at least 2 free bottles a night given this is peak summer season.

Mama Shelter Roma is an all around great place to stay on Rome. Steps from Capri Metro station gives you access to all the main sites. The Vatican is only a 15-20 minute walk. The area around the hotel is very quiet with everything you need, ie restaurants, pharmacy, supermarkets, laundry services and even a barbershop. The hotel staff was professional and very attentive to our needs. The restaurant is ok but the rooftop bar had great food and drinks. with a very cool vibe at night. We had breakfast everyday of our stay due to its convenience before heading out to explore. Breakfast was nothing special but served its purpose. Overall, fantastic stay. Will definitely return if our travels bring us back to Rome.

Loved staying here. I own wr could have stayed longer than one night.
