Great location for easy access to Richmond, the dales and north of the A66. Cosiest double room on a wintery weekend and the loveliest welcome from the owners and staff. Our dogs were provided with water, blankets and we had a separate access for ease of access with them. Delicious 3 course meal, a pub with a focus on good very local Yorkshire produce. We stayed on a Saturday night and chose to dine in the bar where the locals filled the place with atmosphere. We had a hearty breakfast in the dining room after a great morning walk direct from the pub. Look forward to returning!

We were staying nearby and decided to go to this pub on Christmas Eve for a quick drink and what a good decision that was. The staff were extremely friendly and service was excellent. The landlord - Mark and his wife (sorry forgot ur name) who is the chef were lovely and their enthusiasm for making this pub great was just so obvious. So as a result we decided to pop in for a drink on Christmas Day. The place was packed and with such a bunch of lovely people Mark and his wife greeted us with a complimentary glass of Buck’s Fizz and told us to feel free to enjoy the complimentary cheese board and pork pies! We stayed for about hour and as the pub started to empty we decided to say our farewells to let the staff enjoy their Christmas Day. All I can say if you are in the area pop in it’s a lovely traditional pub, with a very enthusiastic couple running it, you won’t be disappointed. Thank you Mark in Bedale

We stayed for two separate nights on our way to and from Scotland. Mark and Lindsay are friendly and attentive hosts and the pub is an excellent place to stay. We were made to feel very welcome during our visit, the rooms were nice with comfortable beds, warm showers and a nice selection of tea, coffee and biscuits. We had dinners and breakfast which were all very good. We will definitely return, should we come back that way, and we would definitely recommend.
