Housekeeping did not show up several times despite mentioning it and was assured they would come. The place does not open until 10 am nobody there in the morning. Room was old and outdated only plus was the nice balcony. It is way overpriced for all of this. But Carlos the manager was very nice and helpful but only saw him later in the day

Great room with a balcony overlooking the small lake. Shower was interesting, it was raised off the floor about 8 inches, but I managed. Great location for easy access.

For a property that is almost 300 years old... it is clean, well maintained. But the team running the place make all the difference, they make you feel pampered. A small property with a big heart! Thank you all at Hotel Excellent.

This is an older charming hotel situated next to the water that surrounds Lubeck. Because of the age of the building, there was no air conditioning. Our room got stuffy at night. We faced a busy street, so did not want traffic noise and kept the door to the balcony closed. I suspect it would be very warm in the heat of summer. But staff were very pleasant and accommodating.

The main drawback from this hotel was the lack of an elevator. The check in person was kind enough to carry my suitcase up the stairs to the top floor where my room was located. Room was clean with wifi included. Location on a canal with walking path/park was nice. I did not purchase breakfast.

Family trip thru Northern Germany. Great location and hotel was nice. Only 11 rooms available and we booked a room for 3 that had a pull out sofa. Room was two larger rooms, excellent view and an older bathroom. The pull out sofa was VERY hard but nicely sized. Several plugs were covered with tape and our access to balcony blocked. Water had no setting between ultra hot and cold but we managed. Location, friend service and view makes up for it all. Their food wasn’t super awesome but their drinks were great and again, sitting right by the water is a huge plus on a warm summer day. They have 2 parking spots only in an alley down the street - so arrange for that early on too!

Bed was comfortable, breakfast was good. The room did smell a bit odd but as I got there late I didn’t say anything. One thing that’s important to note - there is no parking on site or very nearby. There’s nowhere to pull in outside the hotel either to run in and ask. The listing said self-parking which I assumed meant there would be parking available. Has to park about 10 minutes away.

Clean, modern upscale rooms run by the restaurant on the ground floor. Very quiet. Good place to begin and end the day with nearby restaurants. Quick walking distance to the center of town along the main street.

We absolutely loved this quaint, charming hotel. Wonderful location on a lake and withing easy walking distance from the city center. Very friendly staff. We asked for and received room with view of the water. We couldn't have been any more pleased with our stay and hated to leave.

We were there only for one night, and arrived late, so we didn't get to experience the neighborhood much. There was a restaurant downstairs, the Hacienda, but the food wasn't the best. I ordered tomato soup that was supposed to have sour cream, but instead got whipped cream (!!) on my soup. The check-in counter was very small and the check-in itself casual and fairly smooth, but the same guy manning registration was the same one overseeing the restaurant, so they seemed a little short-staffed. The room was comfortable enough, and the place was pretty, and had a good breakfast right on the water, with plenty of space and a great view. The neighborhood was loud at night though and we slept with the window open as there was no A/C, and the noise kept me up (lots of spiders in the window too). Overall, not bad, so I can recommend it with these few caveats.

If you have a car, Hotel Excellent is a great choice for a visit to old town Lübeck. It has a lovely view of the water and is away from the crowds by the main gate. The rooms were charming and pleasant for our visit.

Lovely location by the river, near to all main attractions in the city. 15 minute walk from the railway station. Comfortable room and tasty breakfast. I would happily stay again if I am back in Luebeck.

It was a family city-break. We stayed there for 3 nights. There was two days where the temperature was high. We asked the hotel if they have a fan we could borrow. The staff immediately lend us their one and only fan which is supposed to be used by the kitchen. It was very nice of them to do so.

This is an old building in an attractive waterside location, from what we saw the best spot in Lubeck. Very friendly staff with complimentary welcome fruit cocktail. There is only on street parking (ticket waiting in the morning) and rooms on second floor with no elevator - hand luggage only advisable! Rooms have recently been redecorated and showers refurbished. Good breakfast choice. Recommended if you are looking for a hotel in an attractive spot in Lubeck at reasonable cost.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is on the edge of the Altstadt and so within a short walk of all the main sights.
