It is a must night stay on your trip to Matmata , who is famous for the Barbere’s underground and caves like homes. Patrick the Owner of the Aubergue is the perfect host . Patrick and Sabrina's hospitality, delectable food, magical rooms, extensive wine list, and easy warmth should make this a top pick for you if you're anywhere near Tamezret in the Matmata region. Their place is intimate and comfortable, and Patrick was fantastic to communicate with. I have traveled extensively, and this was one of the most interesting and delightful places I've ever stayed. You shouldn't hesitate to book a day or six with them.

Our stay at L'Auberge De Tamezret was truly exceptional. We really didn’t know what to expect but knew we wanted to try sleeping in a cave. This was certainly a 10-star, upscale, cave experience. Besides the beautifully decorated room, there were two additional things that made staying in this property unique and very special: Patrick and the food. First, we really enjoyed getting to know Patrick, the property owner. He was delightful to talk to and he created a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone. Plus, he was always quick to respond prior to arriving at the property and his English is perfect. Second, it is hard to describe how incredible the food was at L'Auberge De Tamezret. We have eaten at 5-star restaurants that were not as good. Each course of the included dinner was amazing! Be sure to let Patrick know your food preferences and he will ensure you get a dinner you will still be talking about (positively) many days later. The breakfast was equally spectacular. We absolutely loved our overall experience here and we highly recommend it!

What an amazing gem of a place. Patrick and his wife have an attention to detail that makes your stay way above the normal visit to any hotel. The food was amazing and worth the visit on its own. Add to that fact that you are in a beautiful location with comfortable amenities-- and it makes for a wonderful and relaxing time. You will pay a little more than the surrounding options but it is well worth it. We will definitely be back.
