Hotel Victoria is around a 3 minute walk from Glion station (cog train from Montreux train station which takes around 12 mins). Stunning views from our lakeside room. Room 3 has an interconnecting door to Room 2 and is not particularly well soundproofed. Due to health issues with our neighbour, little sleep was had on the first night. However, staff were able to move us to a different room for our second night which was appreciated. Hotel and restaurant were full on Christmas Eve. I was surprised to find a lot of young children in the restaurant and lounge running around. With hot plates coming out of the kitchen and elderly clientele with potential mobility issues, it made me nervous and was an accident waiting to happen. On my way out, a child slid past my feet on her belly head first, only stopping an inch or two away from a glass door. No effort as far as I could see that staff or parents were containing the situation. It felt a bit unruly given the fine dining experience at CHF 180 per person. I would have liked to have seen either some form of intervention from staff to remind parents to keep an eye on their children or for there to have been a limit of say, aged 12 and above in the restaurant. Having said all of that, I cannot fault the staff who were attentive, accommodating and friendly. The food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Overall, a lovely stay.

We felt like we were movie stars being pampered in luxury with an excellent staff and amenities. A classic luxury palace. We are really backpackers treating ourselves to a couple of great days at The Victoria. Impeccable service. Awesome place. Great staff!

My room wasn’t cleaned on several occasions and I had to notify them daily to clean my room. There was dust and food crumbs, etc on the furniture, hair in the bathroom, dirty soap in the sink, etc. I asked to speak to the manager(who is also the hotel owner) twice about the issue with cleanliness and she refused to see me claiming she was “busy.” Meanwhile, she was constantly around the hotel giving me death stares as if to say “How dare you complain.” Her total disregard about this issue speaks volumes about the staff’s attitude to customer satisfaction. It’s ironical that on the hotel site she claims her family will give you a warm welcome yet could not be bothered to speak to a paying customer about the issues I was having with cleaning. Staff in general (restaurant staff) are very snobby and choose and pick who to serve with respect. Restaurant staff (males) are extremely aggressive especially the Maitre De (not the thin tall one - the thin tall Maitre De is very agreeable) policing guests were to sit often refusing us tables. Whilst the female restaurant staff are friendly, one of them stopped me from opening a bottle of water on the terrace as they “were closed” and ordered me to go into the breakfast bar to use an already opened bottle. Very bizarre attitude. The reception staff were very lovely and kind. The chef is also very good. He makes the best madeleines. However, due to the aggressive nature of the male restaurant staff, I never had dinner at the hotel.
