Mulu Airport (MZV) is a small airport in Sarawak, on the island of Borneo, and it exists mainly to bring visitors to Gunung Mulu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It sits in the Miri Division, about 2.4 km from Mulu, the area around the park where visitors stay. Malaysia Airports runs it, and its ICAO code is WBMU. There is one small terminal for domestic flights, so there is no building to choose and no transfer to plan.
No road connects Mulu with the rest of Sarawak. For most visitors the plane is the realistic way in and out, and that shapes the whole trip, from the flight you book to the spare time you leave around it.
The single terminal handles domestic flights and keeps its facilities basic, in line with the size of the airport. Check-in, the waiting area and arrivals are all in the same compact building, so you can find your way around in minutes.
AirBorneo is the airline that flies from Mulu Airport, connecting the park with other towns and cities in Borneo. Your e-ticket names the operating airline and the time you are due to leave, so keep it handy on the day.
Because Mulu is reached by air rather than by road, ground transport here means the short hop between the airport and your accommodation, not a long ride into a city.
Transfers are arranged in advance with your hotel, resort or homestay. Share your flight details when you book the room, then confirm the pick-up before you fly. The drive is short, as the airport is only a couple of kilometres from the park area.
Hotel booking facilities at the airport help arriving visitors who have not yet found a room. Booking before you travel is still the safer plan, especially when the park is busy.
Facilities at Mulu are simple, in keeping with the size of the airport. This is what you will find in the terminal.
The terminal has a VIP lounge. It is a small space rather than a full airline lounge.
Food and beverage outlets in the terminal cover a drink or a snack before your flight. If you want a proper meal, eat at your accommodation before you head over.
A few retail outlets sell small items, handy for a last-minute gift from the park.
Mulu Health Clinic serves the area, but it is not at the airport. Pack any medicine you need before you set off.
Mulu Airport works in daylight hours only, and there are no night flights. Plan your arrival and departure around daytime flights, and do not count on a late-evening connection.
Weather matters here more than at most airports. Heavy rain can cancel flights to and from Mulu, and the national park advises a flexible itinerary. Leaving a spare day before an international connection or an important appointment takes the pressure off.
Follow your airline's check-in advice for how early to arrive. On the day, you can follow your flight on the Traveloka flight status page.
The fare cards on this page show fares from Mulu for the dates you choose. Further down, the flight schedule lists upcoming flights by date, with the airline and the planned departure and arrival times. It shows a selection rather than every flight, so use it to narrow down your options and then search your own dates.
Compare times, set a Price Alert if you would like to wait for a better fare, and your e-ticket arrives by email and in the Traveloka app once you book. Routes from Mulu Airport:
