Staff were lovely. R I om nice and clean.
No pool so the only pool that coukd be used was the one at the frintbwhich we didnt like the idea of using. Spoke to the duty manager abd she gave us complementary breakfast which was so nice of her which made up for not being able to swim so we did have simething nice to remember the hoyel by.

Delux room but breakfast not included. Couldn't check in till 3pm. Had to pay to use hotel carpark despite being guests. Only 2 towels in a family room.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Perfect location for shops, bars, restaurants and bar. Unfortunately the pool was be refurbished but could use the local pool just 2 mins away. Breakfast was excellent with a variety of foods.

I stayed with my son for the night. Views of the ocean were amazing, although we were not facing sunset. Lovely bed. We were only informed of the renovations in an email after the booking. Did not see any disruptions but obviously didn’t have use of the pool, but if you really wanted a swim you could get an armband to use the public ocean pool.

Renovations currently underway, so no pool, no access to front of building, access to rear had faulty escalator and lift, so wheelchair access was nonexistent, room service breakfast poor with hard boiled eggs for eggs Benedict, software not working properly so unable to charge anything back to room. Only positive was the location.

The 10th floor pool deck was under construction, which is my favourite part of this hotel.
We had access to the Scarborough beach pools but the atmosphere was single mothers & babies or people swimming laps in landed pools.

The escalator was not working and the acrod lift was very difficult to locate in the lobby, my husband and I are both in our 80's and have limited mobility. When we reached the reception area we were not greeted kindly, and when I asked about parking I was pointed to a sign on the counter stating that a charge of $25 per night would be charged. On returning to the reception area after parking our vehicle we were again not treated very kindly and a manager was called, I could not accept their policy of paying a bond of $200 (we are pensioners and don't have that amount at hand) as we were not advised of this charge prior to getting there. The manageress agreed to note on our reservation that we had not registered. (This was a treat from our family for our 65th wedding anniversary). We then left the hotel and went home, and I rang Wotif to ask for a full refund.

The Rendezvous has always been a "must try one day" hotel & I was so happy to finally give it a go with a 1 night staycation.
I find it frustrating however when hotels wait until you have made a booking and handed over the money, before they tell you "oh yeh, by the way, the pool is closed during your stay as we have PLANNED renovations happening".
The lack of transperancy of hotels clearly notifying customers of this BEFORE or upon booking, REALLY brings the overall rating down & also, makes the stay less desirable than originally planned.
They did offer entrance to the Scarborough Pools, which is a great back-up option for those willing to walk down the road in their bathers. But it defeats the purpose of enjoying an exclusive "hotel guests only" pool that customers love when booking hotels.
The rooftop movies were amazing, I highly recommended buying a ticket to that in summer, with comfy chairs, cushions & blankets provided upon entering the movie loung area. The security guard they have on for these events is also FABULOUS & makes the experience worthwhile with his friendly personality & helpful directions.
The bedroom was nice & clean. Besides a water stain on the carpet behind the bedside table, everything else was immaculate!
Bond was paid at checkin. The receptionist told me it would be returned the next day, but that the "computers/program" was curently down so it wont show until midnight. I waited over 7days for the return so poor communication by staff there

Unfortunate that the computer system had been down for over a day.
While I didn’t have as long of a wait to check in unlike my friends that were waiting over an hour along with a lot of other people .
And the problems with the lifts and keys cards was quite annoying. Having to wait or find someone to scan Mastercard to get us to our floors was getting tiresome. There was even a time that the lift stopped at every floor even though no one was waiting on the floor.
But otherwise the staff were doing the best that they could do under the circumstances so hats off to them and shame on those customers that understandably were irritated but no need to be rude. Especially to those that I over heard that very rude when asked for the $500 per room deposit. If you don’t read the t&cs when booking you have no right to take it out on the staff.
