We had a very pleasant stay at JR Inn Hakodate and would highly recommend it, especially for travelers using public transport. The hotel’s biggest advantage is its excellent location. Being directly connected to JR Hakodate Station made it incredibly convenient for arrival, sightseeing, and catching our early 8am flight from Hakodate Airport. The airport bus is easily accessible, making departure stress-free. Our room was comfortable and adequately sized, although the bathroom was the smallest we encountered during our Hokkaido trip. It was functional but felt a little cramped compared to other hotels we stayed in. Check-in service was excellent. The staff were friendly, efficient, and helpful with luggage storage before check-in. Do note that room access is strictly from 3pm onwards. Guests who are comfortable with Japanese onsen culture can also make use of the shared public bath, which is a great way to relax after a day of exploring. The hotel is surrounded by plenty of dining options, and souvenir shopping couldn’t be easier with a large selection of local products available just downstairs. Overall, JR Inn Hakodate offers outstanding convenience, friendly service, and a fantastic location. It is an excellent choice for anyone visiting Hakodate, especially those arriving by train or departing on an early flight.

The room was clean and spacious. There is an onsen on the 12th floor and a laundry on the 2nd floor. The hotel is literally 15-20 feet from the station. It is central to the station, the market, the shops, and the restaurants. This location cannot be beat. The only negative is that there are only two small elevators, and there is a wait to go up and down.

This is a great property located right at Hakodate station. There’s a bus station right outside and a car platform just across the street from it, which makes getting anywhere in the city by public transit very easy. The staff were very adept and skilled in English. This property also has a self service pillow concierge, which is a wonderful thing. There are only two elevators in this hotel, which seemed to be busy all the time leading to long wait times and when they got to you, they were usually quite crowded, which frustrated me to no end. Signage within the station to find the hotel is almost nonexistent.

The hotel is yards from the station, very convenient. It is clean with friendly staff and if you're a fish lover you will enjoy breakfast too.Our room was bigger than we thought it would be for Japan too. Would recommend staying here.

Room was spotless. Location is probably the best in terms of access to the trains, tram, buses and the morning market. Service was warm and helpful. My only very minor complaint is a lack of shelves and hooks for clothes, specially for the winter season when one wears so many layers.
