Jonker Street only comes alive in the afternoon or night. The night market on weekends is on until midnight, which we walked through eating delicious street food for dinner. The best part of the night market is that sells everything from tasty treats to cheap keepsakes.

How to Get There

By Plane

If you are traveling by air, nearest airport is the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (IATA: KUL, ICAO: WMKK) is an international airport, which located in Sepang, Selangor. Both terminals, KLIA and KLIA2 airport are located about 1.5 hours from Jonker Street.

By Car

Choice of public transportation is limited in Malacca. However you can find metered taxi easily in town area. In addition, Uber is now available in Malacca. The best way to get to the Jonker Street is by rented car or by getting on a metered taxi. If you are already in town area, you can hop on the fancy trishaw to the famous street.

Flora de Lamar Maritime Museum

The Meratime Museum or Flora de Lamar is a replica of the Portuguese ship which sank in the coast of Malacca while on its way to Portugal. The replica is a staggering 34 meters in height and 8 meters in width. The main focus of the museum is the maritime history of Malacca and the golden ages of Malacca’s Sultanate as the Emporium of the East. While you are visiting Jonker street, do not waste the opportunity to visit the other attractions in the area. If you go up the St Paul's Hill to get to the St Paul's Church, will you pass by two museums along the way. They are the Architecture Museum and the Stamp Museum. There is also the Islamic Museum of Malacca which is a tad further away from the Maritime Museum. If you are done with absorbing all the history of Malacca and the delicious food at Jonker Street, you can head over to Dataran Pahlawan for some shopping. There are many shops in it and also some restaurants which serve good food.
