Known as the best night market is the best in the country, Jonker Street Night Market comes to life in full colour with a lively street party-like ambient. With a wide array of stalls selling various items, polite and friendly hawkers as well as live music coursing throughout the area, this place takes place every Friday and Saturday night from 6 evening until late. Located at the main street of Chinatown, this place represents colourful history and rich multicultural society in Malaysia. It was once famous for its antique shops and has turned to clothing and crafts outlets as well as restaurants and hipster cafes nowdays. While bargaining for the best deal is possible at almost every stall here, one have come here to taste the fantastic shopping experience.

How to Get There

In order to get there, you must reach Malacca state first, located at the southern part of Malaysia.

By Plane

Kuala Lumpur International Airport is the nearest airport to Melaka, which takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes drive to and from the airport. From here, take an express bus that will go straight to Melaka Sentral. The journey by bus is estimated to be 2 hours with the fare of RM24. Then, take a taxi straight to the Jonker Street.

By Bus

Take an express bus at the TBS (Terminal Bas Bersepadu) that will take you straight to Melaka Sentral. The bus fare is around RM10 to RM15. The ride usually takes approximately 3 hours. Melaka Sentral Bus Terminal is located at the heart of the town center. The express and domestic bus as well as the taxis are pooled together in this terminal for the convenience of passengers travelling around Melaka. You can just take a taxi ride straight to the destination.

By Car

The easiest mode is by driving a car via the North-South Expressway (PLUS). Leave the expressway at the Ayer Keroh exit. It takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes drive from Kuala Lumpur city.

Dutch Square

Dutch Square Malacca is the most picturesque vanue along Jalan Kota where visitor can get a trishaw ride to roam around the city. Built in 1904 to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, there is a stunning water fountain which is the highlight of this the area. Known as the most visited tourist attraction in this historical city, It displays the history of Melaka during times of Malay Sultanate, Portuguese, Dutch and British colonization since 1982 and today, this building serves as a history museum.

Taming Sari Tower

Taming Sari Tower offers a breathtaking view of Melaka UNESCO World Heritage City and many exciting sights such as St.Paul’s Hill, Independence Memorial Building, Samudra Museum and the ship, Flor De La Mar, Dataran Pahlawan, Pulau Selat Mosque, Pulau Besar and the Straits of Melaka. Open to public daily from 10 am until 11 pm, There is a ride that will take visitors to the top of the tower, at the height of more than 70 meter from the ground.

Cowboy Town A Famosa

Offering a wide array of outlets where entertainment is the main theme, there are restaurants, disco, beer garden, shopping village, game centre, bowling alley, children theme park and funfair here at this place. Open daily from 6 pm to 12 am, Cowboy Town A Famosa place will amaze you with its rustic buildings, antiques, cowboys and cowgirls, red Indians, country songs and stunt shows.
