The Alor Gajah Hospital is a government hospital located in the historical state of Melaka. It first started operating in the year of 1906. Due to the age of the building and also the increase in the number of patients, the Alor Gajah Hospital had moved into a newer building that was built in 2008. The move was made in September 2012 and in this new hospital building is at Jalan Paya Datuk. The new building has a capacity of 78 beds, with operating theatres, labour rooms and even an emergency room. The Alor Gajah Hospital is also the first hospital in the country that has total air-conditioned, including in third-class wards.

How to Get There

By Car

The Alor Gajah Hospital is located almost thirty kilometres away from the Melaka town and the drive will take about forty minutes to reach it. If from Kuala Lumpur, the trip will take about an hour and twenty minutes.

By Bus

From Terminal Bersepadan Selatan in Kuala Lumpur, there is a direct bus trip to Alor Gajah. The ticket price for the one-way trip is only RM 11.50. It is also possible to get to Alor Gajah from Melaka Sentral by using the express or the city bus. For the express bus, the ticket from Melaka Sentral to Alor Gajah is just RM 2.20 and the bus is operated by the Cepat & Cekap Express. For the city bus, it is operated by the Panorama Bus of Melaka city and there are several buses that have Alor Gajah on their route. The Masjid Tanah – Alor Gajah route is the fastest route to get to Alor Gajah from Melaka Sentral and the trip will take about one hour twenty minutes. The Alor Gajah Bus Terminal is less than three kilometres away from the Alor Gajah Hospital.

A’Famosa Water Theme Park

This is one of the famous water theme parks in the country. The A’Famosa Water Theme Park is located in the compound of the A’Famosa Resort and it was built in 1996. Despite its old age, the water theme park still delivers some thrilling and exciting slides for its customers. The ticket is only RM 32 for an adult and for the children under 12, the ticket is RM 26. The ticket does not include the price of renting a tube which is at RM 10 a tube with RM 10 refundable deposit. The waterpark also has a rentable locker at a reasonable price. The waterpark opens every day except on Tuesday, from 11 am until 7 pm. It is located just under ten kilometres from the Alor Gajah Hospital.

A’Famosa Animal World Safari

Another attraction located in the A’Famosa Resort. The Animal World Safari is a well-known safari in Malaysia and it covers a huge 60 hectares of land; plenty of rooms for the animals to roam freely. The safari has more than 150 species including their main attractions the lions and tigers. They also have camels, elephants and even a number of birds including flamingos. Inside the World Safari itself, there are several types of activities available to the tourists including a Safari Adventure Ride; a safari ride in a secure truck going through the fields with animal roaming freely. There is also a river cruise to the Monkey Island and get up close to see several types of monkeys. Visitors also may feed and touch the monkeys. The ticket to enter the Animal World Safari is at RM 93 for an adult while RM 82 for a child. This ticket includes a western set meal for lunch.
