Citra Anugerah Wah Leng Chinese Restaurant is a famed Chinese cuisine restaurant situated on the main Tekek Village of Tioman Island, being accessible via boat from the district of Mersing, Johor. While it is closer geographically to the district of Mersing, Johor, the island in a whole is placed under the jurisdiction of Rompin District, state of Pahang. When on the island, the restaurant is easy to find due to its proximity to the main road as well as other facilities such as resorts, beaches and villages. The restaurant is without doubt the best place in the island to enjoy family gathering and team bonding while indulging in the food. It has the widest offerings of Chinese and seafood-based cuisines and customers have the freedom to pick the freshest they could get and even the method they would prefer the dish to be cooked with. Since it is located on the island, it is also not available for visits all year round, instead the best time to visit would be around March to October due to the fair weather, while the monsoon season happening from November to February may hamper visitor’s desires to enjoy the good seafood dish at the restaurant.
People driving from Kuala Lumpur may drive via North-South Highway/E2 for immediate access to the jetty of Mersing that would provide boat and ferry services to Tioman Island, which is the fastest access point to the island and the restaurant itself. The journey could take up around four hours and thirty minutes depending on the current traffic situation.
There is a bus terminal in the Mersing town located in Jalan Pasar which is a stone’s throw away to the jetty. Take the trip directly to Mersing from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) terminal using express bus services such as Transnasional Express or Sepakat Liner to reach the said terminal before opting for taxi or walking by foot to go to the jetty in order to reach the restaurant.
There are boats available from Mersing jetty terminal to Tioman Island jetty on a daily basis with changing schedules due to the tidal wave. The journey usually takes around two hours and makes five stops. Upon reaching the island jetty, visitors can opt to rent a car to reach the restaurant.
Situated at the main Tekek Village area which is the most populated area of the island, the Tekek Beach has much urban setting to it due to the multitude of facilities being built around such as retail shops, bank, highway, airport, marina, jetty complex and interestingly there is a duty free shopping area nearby too. Nonetheless this does not diminish the beach’s charm, as there are still a lot of things to look forward to do here, such as beach strolling, sunbathing, picnicking and flying kites. There are also a cluster of hotels and accommodations available, hence visitors do not have to worry about a place to sleep and rest after a long day at the beach.
