How to Get There

By Plane

There are flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Tawau Airport for about 2 hours and 45 minutes. Once you reach the airport, you can take a taxi or rent a car to Kopitiam Tawau restaurant by using Tun Hussein road for another 30 minutes.

Teck Guan Cocoa Museum

Lies within Tanjung Batu Laut, this museum started its operation in 2002. The incredible scent of cocoa immediately greets visitors at the entrance and there are walls of exhibition of history and development of cocoa in Malaysia. Visitors can find a cocoa processing plant and manufacturing factory where the production of cocoa is processed daily. Besides that, the museum also has a mini auditorium which accommodate 40 people at a time and 20-minute video on cocoa processing and production will be played. There are also demonstration of preparation of cocoa snacks and the cocoa products available for purchase. Among the products are chocolate jam, instant hot cocoa beverages, cocoa snacks and many more. This place opens on Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm and Saturday from 8am to 1pm. It is closed on Sunday and public holidays.

Tawau Hills Park

Tawau Hill Park is a popular spot for family and friends to gather and carry out activities together. It is suitable for picnic and camping. Besides that, there are also many types of animals and plant species can be found here. Jungle trekking is the most famous activity here and visitors may have a chance to spot animals on the way like hornbills, pheasants and giant tree squirrel. The Tawau River flows through the middle of the park and forms many natural deepwater pools and waterfalls. Besides that, visitors can also check out the lowland plants such as Elephant's Ear Orchid. There are jungle lodge and chalet at the park. Many people visit Tawau Hills Park during the school holidays or at weekends. To avoid crowds, weekdays are the best time to explore the park.
