The Tree Top Walk is an attraction located in Sungai Sedim Recreational Park. With the length of 925 metres and a height of 26 meters above the forest floor at the highest point, The Tree Top Walk is the world’s largest rainforest canopy walk. The walkway crosses the river underneath it twice. The park where the canopy walk is located is around 30 minutes away from the town of Kulim in Kedah.
The Tree Top Walk was built in January 2003. 14 months later which is in March 2005 the Walk was completed. The structure of the walk is made out of steel pylons. It weighs up to 422214 kilograms. The walk is able to provide an aerial view of the forest. The walk is suspended on its own and does not damage any trees.
The Tree Top Walk is opened every day except Mondays between 9 am to 5.30 pm. However, it will be opened on Public Holidays. The canopy walk opening will also depend on the weather as well. The entrance fee is RM10 for adults and RM 6 for children of the age 7 and 17 years old.
Visitors may drive from Kuala Lumpur to head to Tree Top Walk. They may take the North South Expressway heading towards Ipoh and Alor Setar. Then visitors should take exit number 153 that will lead to Alor Pongsu. Then there will be sign boards for Sungai Sedim Recreational Park. The distance between the 2 cities are 359.2 kilometre and the drive would take up to 4 hours and 6 minutes.
One may take a bus to Kulim from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan. Some of the bus companies that make their way to Kulim are Kejora Masyhur, Sri Maju, Transnasional and many more. The fee per way will take around RM 36.90. From there, visitors may take a taxi to go to the park.
The forest is a recreational forest where visitors may do extreme sports such as Whitewater rafting and tubing. Visitors may also hike in the forest. Many photographers come here to take pictures of nature too as the forest holds many variety of flora there.
Kulim Water Park is run by the Cinta Sayang Resort. It is opened to public where families may visit the park and enjoy the water rides and slides there. The park was opened since December 2006. The ticket price are now cheaper at only RM 36 for adults and RM 34 for children. There are many facilities available there too such as male and female changing rooms, prayer rooms and lockers.
