Hotels near Tua Pek Kong Temple

This temple is over 100 years old and is the oldest and best-preserved Chinese temple in Sibu. The 7-storey Goddess of Mercy (Kuan Yin) Pagoda next to it was built in the late 1980s and is one of the most perfectly proportioned pagodas outside Mainland China. Besides religious purposes, tourists also climb its many steps for views of the Rajang Rivers as well as to view the sunset. In March 1928 Sibu town was ravaged by a fire, however the temple was unscathed, considered a miracle by locals. In 1942, the Japanese invaded and occupied Sibu. Three years later, the Allied Forces bombarded the town, severely destroying the temple but the deity was unharmed. The temple eventually went through a series of repairs and renovations to its present state.

Rejang Esplanade

Stretching from the Express Boat Passenger Terminal to the Kingwood Hotel is the Rejang Esplanade, a landscaped waterfront favoured by courting couples, sightseers and al-fresco diners. Located here is also the magnificent Swan Statue, the emblem of Sibu, always the spot for a good photo ops.

Bawang Assan Longhouse

The Iban traditional settlement of Bawang Assan compromise of 9 longhouse dating from the 18th Century. Visitors here can visit both of their traditional and modern longhouse. They can also stay overnight from the home stay program and participate in their daily activities.
