1. Prepare a detailed travel information, including your flight and hotel details (to be filled in the application form).
2. If you’re staying with friends or relatives, you have to have a copy of an invitation letter from them. The documents should include both party’s details including address, contact and financial information.
3. You may have to produce bank account statements from the past six months, income tax return and proof of employment. If you’re self-employed, you will have to provide a copy of your business registration.

4. Do I need a transit visa?

You can get a 24-hour transit visa exemption when you reach any of the major airports in China. If you’re planning on spending more time there, you will have to apply for a visa.

1. You don’t need a visa to enter Macau and Hong Kong.
2. China is pretty strict about the passport photos, so make sure:
   • The background is white.
   • The picture quality is good.
   • Your spectacles do not cover your face in any way. Wire-rimmed or frame-less ones are acceptable.
   • You look straight ahead without tilting your head.
   • You do not wear any headgears that are not required by religion. If you wear a tudung make sure your forehead is not obscured.
   • Your face is fully visible, including the forehead (no niqab or fringe).
   • Try not to smile.
   • You’re not wearing heavy makeup.
