There were five of us, two adults and three children. The room was very spacious, with a bedroom with a queen bed, a pull-out sofa bed, and a sofa bed. There was a washing machine so we could do laundry, a microwave, and a stovetop. The amenities were complete. Highly recommend staying here.

More about hotels in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur: A Metropolis of Contrasts for the Discerning Filipino Traveller

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's dynamic capital, offers a compelling blend of modernity and tradition that resonates deeply with travellers from the Philippines. Unlike other Malaysian destinations, KL stands out as a global hub where towering skyscrapers meet vibrant street markets, creating a unique urban tapestry. For Filipinos seeking an international adventure that is both accessible and exciting, Kuala Lumpur presents an unparalleled opportunity to explore diverse culinary landscapes, indulge in world-class shopping, and create lasting family memories, all within a familiar Southeast Asian context.

The city's distinct neighbourhoods provide a spectrum of experiences, ensuring every visitor finds their perfect niche. From the bustling commercial heart of Bukit Bintang, renowned for its shopping and entertainment, to the more serene and administrative precinct of Putrajaya, or the family-centric attractions of Bandar Sunway, Kuala Lumpur caters to a wide array of preferences. Understanding these variations is key to crafting an itinerary that maximizes enjoyment, whether you're drawn to the glitz of the city centre or the tranquil green spaces further afield.

For travellers from the Philippines, Kuala Lumpur represents exceptional value. With an average starting price of around ₱ 302.17 per night for accommodation, it offers an international city experience that is remarkably affordable compared to many Western destinations. This economic advantage, coupled with the city's reputation for excellent culinary offerings and family-friendly activities, makes it an attractive proposition for those looking to stretch their travel budget without compromising on quality or experience.

The accommodation landscape in Kuala Lumpur is as varied as its districts, offering options to suit every taste and budget. From highly-rated budget-friendly establishments like Sleeping Lion Suites, known for its excellent amenities, to modern apartment-style stays such as The Axon @ Bukit Bintang, which provides a home-away-from-home feel, there's a place for everyone. These diverse offerings underscore the city's commitment to welcoming international visitors, making it easier than ever to book hotel stays that perfectly align with your travel plans.

Kuala Lumpur is a destination that truly has something for everyone, including travellers from the US, Europe, India, and Africa. American and European visitors will appreciate the blend of modern infrastructure and rich cultural heritage, offering a gateway to Southeast Asian exploration. Indian travellers will find familiar flavours, excellent connectivity, and a wide range of budget-friendly options. For those from African nations, KL offers a sophisticated urban experience with strong regional ties and a welcoming atmosphere, making it a prime choice for international tourism.

Best Areas to Stay in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur is a sprawling metropolis, and its distinct neighbourhoods offer vastly different experiences for international visitors. Choosing the right area to base yourself in can significantly shape your trip, influencing everything from your daily commute to the types of attractions and dining options readily available. Understanding these nuances is crucial for first-time travellers aiming to make the most of their Kuala Lumpur adventure.

Bukit Bintang

Bukit Bintang is Kuala Lumpur's pulsating commercial and entertainment heart, a district that never sleeps. For international travellers, it offers an electrifying introduction to the city, brimming with upscale shopping malls, vibrant street markets, and a dazzling array of restaurants and nightlife. This area is particularly appealing to younger travellers, shoppers, and those who thrive on constant activity, providing a lively and engaging base from which to explore the city's modern face.

This district is a shopper's destination, home to iconic malls like Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and Fahrenheit 88, alongside the bustling street stalls of Jalan Alor for incredible street food. Getting to Bukit Bintang from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is straightforward via the KLIA Ekspres train to KL Sentral, followed by a short LRT ride. For those looking to explore beyond the immediate vicinity, numerous tour operators offer day trips, and you can easily book attractions and city tours directly from here.

Mid Valley City

Mid Valley City presents a more integrated urban experience, designed as a self-contained city within a city. It's an excellent choice for travellers who prefer convenience and a wide range of amenities within easy reach. This area is particularly suited for families and business travellers, offering a slightly more relaxed atmosphere than the intense buzz of Bukit Bintang, while still providing extensive shopping, dining, and entertainment options, all within a well-planned, modern environment.

The main draw here is the massive Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens Mall, offering a comprehensive retail and dining experience. The area is also well-connected, with a dedicated Mid Valley Komuter station providing easy access to other parts of Kuala Lumpur. For travellers arriving at KLIA, the KLIA Ekspres to KL Sentral and then a short taxi or Komuter ride is the most efficient route. It’s a practical base for exploring attractions across the city, with many hotels offering shuttle services.

Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC)

The Kuala Lumpur City Centre, dominated by the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, is the city's modern marvel and a prime destination for international visitors. This area exudes sophistication and offers a glimpse into Malaysia's rapid development. It's ideal for first-time visitors who want to be at the epicentre of KL's most famous landmarks, business districts, and high-end attractions, providing a sense of grandeur and accessibility to key sights.

KLCC is home to the Petronas Twin Towers, Suria KLCC shopping mall, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, and the beautiful KLCC Park. Public transport is excellent, with the KLCC LRT station directly serving the area. From KLIA, the KLIA Ekspres to KL Sentral and then the LRT is the recommended route. This district is perfect for those who want to be close to major tourist spots and enjoy a well-organized, visually impressive urban landscape, offering easy access to many city tours.

Medan Tuanku

Medan Tuanku offers a more local flavour, situated between the historical heart of the city and its modern commercial centres. It provides a good balance for travellers seeking proximity to key attractions without the constant hustle of the most tourist-heavy districts. This area is suitable for budget-conscious travellers and those interested in experiencing a more authentic side of Kuala Lumpur, with a mix of traditional markets and modern conveniences.

This district is close to heritage sites like Sultan Abdul Samad Building and Merdeka Square, as well as modern shopping centres like SOGO. The Medan Tuanku Monorail station and Sultan Ismail LRT station provide excellent connectivity. From KLIA, take the KLIA Ekspres to KL Sentral and then transfer to the LRT. It’s a practical choice for travellers who want to explore both historical landmarks and shopping districts, offering a more grounded perspective on city life.

Putrajaya

Putrajaya, while technically a federal territory and administrative capital, is often considered within the greater Kuala Lumpur region for tourism purposes and offers a distinct experience. It's a planned city known for its futuristic architecture, expansive parks, and serene atmosphere, making it a refreshing contrast to the bustling city centre. This area is suited to travellers who want a more tranquil and visually unique environment, particularly those interested in modern urban planning and government architecture.

Key attractions include the stunning Putra Mosque, the Perdana Putra (Prime Minister's Office), and the beautiful Putrajaya Lake, perfect for boat tours. While further from KLIA than the city centre, it's accessible via the KLIA Transit to Putrajaya Sentral station. From there, local buses or taxis can take you to your accommodation. It’s a great option for a day trip or a quieter stay, offering a different perspective on Malaysia's development and governance.

Bandar Sunway

Bandar Sunway is a premier integrated resort and entertainment hub, particularly renowned for its Sunway Lagoon theme park. This area is a fantastic choice for families and groups looking for a destination packed with activities and attractions. It offers a self-contained vacation experience, where accommodation, entertainment, and dining are all conveniently located within a vibrant, purpose-built environment, making it a popular choice for those seeking fun and adventure.

The main draw is Sunway Lagoon, a multi-park attraction featuring water rides, wildlife encounters, and extreme activities. Sunway Pyramid Hotel and other accommodations are directly connected to the Sunway Pyramid Mall, one of Malaysia's largest shopping centres. Getting there from KLIA involves taking the KLIA Ekspres to KL Sentral, then a bus or taxi to Bandar Sunway. It’s an ideal base for a dedicated family holiday focused on theme park fun and shopping.
