We had a fantastic room with a private little yard and pool that we loved - the breakfast was great and the staff was so nice . We also got massages which were perfect . The hotel pool and grounds were also really nice !

Friendly and helpful staff. Very safe and mellow vibe in the middle of the Santiago neighborhood, which feels like a middle class area. Spacious room and great bed. Nicely maintained grounds and pool. It’s about 1 mile from the heart of the historical district, or roughly a 15 minute walk.

I am requesting a refund. Last night I tried to contact you, but nobody followed up on my complaint. Around 10:30 p.m., I saw one large dead cockroach and another one alive in my room, which I had to kill. When I reported this to the receptionist, he told me I could use a spray — which is a completely inappropriate response. I explained that I have asthma, and he replied that I should have told them earlier. I said that I should not have to notify the hotel in advance in order to avoid being exposed to pesticides. I was moved to another room, but I still could not sleep well. There was no blanket, I was unsure if there were more cockroaches, and there was no fridge in the room. Overall, I am very upset with Expedia for this experience and the lack of proper support.

Hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood. Need DiDi/Uber to go places. It is a different kind of hotel, coming from western country. Only give you limited things for breakfast. Pool is ok, but you have to claim it. If some family is using it, you cannot use it, there is no place to just hang out. Rooms are unique, with sitting area. Because of the greenery at the hotel, lots of mosquitoes, I got bit many times. It was decent hotel, but, I will not be staying there next time.

The hotel itself is beautiful, with a lovely atmosphere. I do wish the customer service had been a bit more attentive. The property is still undergoing some construction, and we noticed tools left along the walkway and near our room. We only tried breakfast once, so I can’t speak much to the food overall, but that one experience wasn’t our favorite. On a positive note, I did enjoy a wonderful massage during my stay—it was truly relaxing and a highlight of the trip.

The property is perfect for a relaxing and fun visit to Merida. The hotel pool and private plunge pools are a real plus in the hot weather. The rooms are well appointed, the air conditioning works great, and the beds are super comfortable. The greenery and plants make the outdoor space feel like a tropical paradise. Above all, the staff are exceptional. The front desk staff are very knowledgeable about Merida and take care of every detail with great professionalism. The operations team is on top of every detail. The cleaning staff and wait staff are super helpful, willing to go over and beyond to make sure guests have what they need. I highly recommend the spa, too! Hotel Unknown is like my home away from home and the only place I stay when visiting Merida. I can’t wait to go back.

The place was fully rustic. The A/C was not able to cool the living room part of the room. The bedroom, however, did manage to get cool. The floors were not as clean as they could have been- I found this out after walking on them with only my socks. It was difficult reaching our room as we had to traverse railroad ties that were half buried into the ground. The foilage leading to our room was overgrown. There was no telephone in room- glad there wasn’t an emergency.
