Very strategic, clean rooms with beautiful views at the front of the grassmarket. The receptionist's name is Sara, she was very helpful to me. I really enjoyed staying here, for me, I'm a halal traveler. I really recommend this place. Near this hotel there is a Zaza cafe, you have to try it.

My experience of staying at Apex was very pleasant. The hotel is strategically close to the city center. In front of the hotel there are lots of restaurants and cafes, many right and left mini-markets that all look pretty similar in medieval times. And the most beautiful, when opening a hotel room window immediately visible Edinburgh Castle. Clean hotel rooms and complete facilities. Plus the breakfast menu is very tasty and varied.

There was no AC, it was sweltering and yes, it is Scotland, but for a 4+ star hotel, I would expect AC. There were cracked tiles on the shower floor, rust and dirt on around the shower door and live wires exposed on the phone. The sweltering conditions without ac, made our stay unbearable, at almost $500 per night, I expected better, other than a feeble apology and comp breakfast, it was shrugged shoulders.

Hotel was decent but the rooms are not air conditioned. Something to note if you are going to be there during a heat wave as we were. Windows barely open; they give you a small fan but it does not do a whole lot. I understand the weather is not their fault, which is why I gave it four stars.

The app check-in and the great staff (Alister & Night Manager, Paul) made it so easy & comfortable to stay at this hotel. Helpful & anticipating everything from getting taxis, reservations, directions, & just all my “long day” travel stuff to my room definitely let me know I was on vacation. The hotel itself is in a great location with shops, restaurants, & Edinburgh Castle just a stone throw away. It was nice to be able to just go outside & enjoy a bit of Edinburgh or within walking distance to the center of the city for more.

This is a good option for being right in the center of Edinburgh. Lots of restaurant and shops nearby and walking distance to many attractions. The staff was very helpful, My one complaint was that the room was over heated with no way of cooling it off but overall a nice Hote in a good location.

Had a lovely balcony room overlooking Grassmarket square with views of the castle. Hotel was clean and staff was helpful and kind, We arrived early and were able to get our rooms early. Rooms were very nice. Being next to grassmarket was a little louder than expected but manageable. Restaurant food was delicious and service was great.

This hotel was all about location. We had a gorgeous view of Edinburgh Castle from our room. It is certainly in the middle of the action so you should expect the usual noise that comes with being centrally located. I thought it was a good value for the stay. I was traveling with my husband and 12 year old son. Recommend it for a good base to explore Edinburgh. We walked everywhere from here including down to Leith for dinner.

I understand that the building is old and either doesn't have air conditioning or it doesn't work very well. However, other things could be done to help cool the rooms and move air around. For example, install ceiling fans. That would help. Also, the fan that was in our room was so rickety and worn out that we had to brace it with our suitcase so it would stand upright. The hallways were unbearably hot.

Strange to pay so much for a hotel room and have only a tub but no shower in the room. Of note, I had several rooms during my stay there and only one had no shower. Very convenient to the royal mile.
