What Guests Say About Their Stay

Neil

10.0
/ 10
Located just off the A9 and much used by business people and contractors. It is a bus trip into town £2 each way, with stops outside and frequent service. Our 3rd floor room was ideal for our 3 night stay and a decent lift to boot. Overlooked the car park and adjacent to the passing A9, yet no noise. Its nice to have a hotel with plug sockets either side of the bed to recharge phones through the night, of the 4 places we stayed at 2 did and 2 did not. Food and beverage. It is so nice that the hotel employs local staff who get to know their customers over the stay, 10/10 for young Amy. Not many draught beer, my preference, but a suitable bottle was available. Please pour it for your guests, it's that little bit extra. Menu had good choices, quality enough to make us eat in each night. Breakfast, very good range of hot & cold plus cereals, fruit could possibly have more variety. Last point, it's a Scottish hotel and no Haggis! Swimming pool is good with steam room Sauna and spa pool. Unfortunately the spa pool was out of action. Some local people use the facilities and swimming lessons for children as well. Stayed at Ft William many times and visited Inverness on day trips, now it is likely to be the other way around. This was our first Leonardo stay and the impression was so good there will be more.

This hotel is on a sad downward slope and has been for years. I tried it again a few days ago, after telling myself I'd not stay here again the last time and I think I've probably confirmed that I doubt I'll ever be back. The only redeeming features of the hotel are the pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room. Even they have their issues. We arrived to find that under 12's were not allowed in the steam room or sauna and this isn't advertised anywhere on the hotel website. One very dissapointed 9 year old boy who is allowed to use both of these at our local leisure centre under adult supervision. The showers were also cold at the pool changing rooms. The rooms are also terribly dated and in dire need of a refurb. Scuff marks everywhere, mould in the bathrooms, dated fixtures. The windows did not seal properly so there is a lot of traffic noise and of course in the middle of winter when it's -2c outside you get a freezing cold draft in your room. Also, my absolute pet hate in hotels, no soft close doors. All night and in the morning you hear doors slamming. I just don't understand why some hotels don't install soft close doors. It just screams of cost cutting and laziness. As a comparrison we stayed at a "budget" hotel brand for our second night in Inverness (the one with all the purple branding) and it was superb. The hotel was almost full but it was silent. No slamming doors, no traffic noise. Until this hotel has had a full and extesive refub I'll go purple from now on.

The bathroom is so old and urgently needs replacing, with broken tiles, faulty taps and broken bathroom sealants. The double glazing is at least 25 years old and should be condemned,as the room is so noisy as they do not block out any of the nose, from all the busy traffic. are broken

Lack of info at reception but we got there in the end. My room was quite dated. First night, the room was absolutely roasting but as I was facing Milburn Road, having the window open wasn’t really an option due to traffic noise/boy racers flying past. Room was filthy to be honest. Short curly hair in the sink, dust and hair down the side of the dressing table, sugar and tea stains on the table next to kettle, hair in the bed, mouldy bathroom, walls thick with dust. There was also a questionable stain on the bed however I couldn’t be 100% sure it was there on mine and my young son’s arrival but I’m 99% sure. Breakfast was good. £13 per day as my young son ate free. Cooked option, plenty cereals, yogurts and berries, cooked meats and cheese, bread for toasting and pastries. Good selection of juice as well. Swimming pool was a bit dated too. On our first visit one of the pool lights was floating on the water with electrical wires attached! Two guys popped out of the steam room and eventually fixed it. I didn’t use sauna or steam room but jacuzzi was nice and warm and the pool was okay too. Lockers require your own padlock and the ladies changing rooms are open plan.

I stayed 2 weeks and I was given a room with a fridge that didn’t work. The chair in the room was broken also, which they eventually changed of I was thankful. However, throughout my stay, the room cleaning was focused on changing towels and tidying the bed , the dust was building up in the room. However, I did throughly enjoy the leisure centre, which was lovely and the restaurant staff was lovely too.
