Buying tickets on the app helps everyone save more than buying directly (20 Singapore dollars). In addition, ticket exchange is very convenient. Regarding the museum, there are many spaces to visit as well as take photos to check in However, the day I went coincided with the conference so the beautiful area was blocked, so it was quite a pity

The architecture here is very beautiful, everyone should arrange to go from noon, the light is both beautiful and cool, you can sit and rest. There are many free spaces, the tour guide to exchange tickets is quite old but very enthusiastic, there is a water refill counter. The day I went, there was an exhibition room that children really enjoyed watching. If you want to take pictures and explore this whole area, it will take 3 hours. My family is too small here, so it's a pity.

More about National Gallery Singapore

National Gallery Singapore is an icon of artistic excellence, with the world's biggest public collection of Singaporean and Southeast Asian modern art. Nestled in the heart of the Civic District, Marina Bay, this famous institution is situated between two national monuments—City Hall and the former Supreme Court—that have been expertly renovated and turned into a spectacular 64,000-square-metre arena.

About National Gallery Singapore

The Gallery's purpose goes beyond simply presenting art; it also attempts to foster significant discourse between Singaporean, Southeast Asian, and global art. By establishing connections with prominent worldwide institutions such as the Centre Pompidou, Tate Britain, and the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo, the Gallery presents Singapore as a key actor in the global visual arts landscape. The Gallery fosters creativity and inclusion via its creative programming, collaborative research, and long-term and special exhibits, positioning it as a progressive force in the art world.

The recognition that the National Gallery Singapore has received speaks loudly about its influence. In 2020, it became the first museum in Southeast Asia to be ranked 20th in The Art Newspaper's global study of museum attendance. This comes after a succession of significant honours, including "Best Theme Attraction" at the TTG Travel Honours in 2017 and many honours at the Singapore Tourist Awards in 2016, emphasisingw its contribution to improving Singapore's tourist scene. The Gallery's dedication to accessibility and education was further recognized in 2018 when it became the first museum in Asia to receive the Children in Museums Award.

When is The Best Time to Visit the National Gallery Singapore?

The National Gallery Singapore is a riveting site all year round, however, some periods may be more appropriate based on what you like and what you want to experience. The peak season, which runs from June to August, is distinguished by a dynamic atmosphere and several exhibitions and cultural events. This season also corresponds with many citywide festivities, providing a packed and engaging experience. However, this popularity comes with a drawback: greater crowds and probably higher rates for accommodations and activities, which could affect your vacation.

For anyone looking for a more relaxing stay, the shoulder seasons of April to May and September to October provide a wonderful balance. The weather remains pleasant during these months, and there are fewer crowds than during the high season.  However, certain exhibitions and activities may be less frequent. Alternatively, the off-peak season, which runs from November to March, allows you to visit the galleries in a more relaxed atmosphere. The trade-off at this time might be periodic rain showers and a smaller range of exhibitions and activities.

Location and How to get to National Gallery Singapore

The National Gallery Singapore is located in the Civic District at 1 St. Andrew's Road, Singapore 178957, which is a dynamic location surrounded by some of the city's most recognizable monuments, government buildings, and cultural organisations. This location makes the gallery easily accessible and serves as an excellent starting point for exploring Singapore's historical and cultural centre.

By MRT

One of the most convenient ways to reach the National Gallery Singapore is by MRT. The nearest stations are City Hall and Esplanade, both located on the North East Line (NEL) and Downtown Line (DTL). From City Hall MRT, take Exit B, and enjoy a pleasant 7-minute walk to the gallery via the Art Connector. If you're coming from Clarke Quay, Exit E will lead you on a leisurely 10-minute stroll along the picturesque Singapore River. For those arriving from Raffles Place, Exit B will guide you through the bustling business district, with the gallery just a 10-minute walk away.

By Bus

The National Gallery Singapore is well-served by several bus routes, making it easy to reach from various parts of the city. The gallery has two main entrances: the Coleman Street entrance and the Padang Atrium entrance, each with nearby bus stops. For the Coleman Street entrance, buses 63, 51, 80, 32, and 851 stop opposite Peninsula Plaza, just a 5-minute walk away. To access the Padang Atrium entrance, take buses 195 or 961 to Parliament Place, or hop on buses 61, 124, 145, 166, 174, or 197, which stop opposite The Treasury Building on North Bridge Road—a short 7-minute walk from the gallery. Alternatively, buses 75, 100, 107, 131, and 167 stop in front of Victoria Concert Hall, placing you just a 5-minute walk from the gallery.

By Car

If you prefer to drive, the National Gallery Singapore offers convenient underground parking facilities. However, do bear in mind that traffic in the Civic District can be heavy, especially during peak hours. The main drop-off point for cars and taxis is located at the Coleman Street Entrance, with an alternative drop-off at The Adelphi nearby. For parking, vehicles should access the gallery’s car park via Parliament Place to St Andrew’s Road. Please note that Connaught Drive and Fullerton Road/Anderson Bridge are closed to traffic, so plan your route accordingly.

By Taxi

Taxis are a comfortable and hassle-free way to reach the National Gallery Singapore. In a city where taxis are readily available, simply give your driver the gallery’s address or show them its location on a map, and you’ll be dropped off at the Coleman Street Entrance in no time. This option is particularly convenient if you're short on time or carrying heavy bags.
