What a lovely lady on reception greeted us & checked us in. The staff in the bar & restaurant were all very friendly & helpful. It's a great way to end a day of retail therapy with a cold beer or a cocktail, or two! In the ambient surroundings of the bar. The hotel is so handy for the city centre as well.

I’d booked a suite as I was staying for a week’s holiday and a regular room would have been too small. The room was fine but the noise from the bars outside was formidable. I asked for a change of room and this too had the same noise problem. I complained to reception on the first and second days and told them the room was not worth the £1350 I’d paid for it because of the noise getting in the way of sleep. I was told that she would speak to the GM and get back to me. That didn’t happen. I didn’t want to spend any more time complaining or arguing that the management must know about the noise problem - when I did I was told, ‘You’ve booked a city centre hotel and it’s bound to be noisy.’ I decided to just wait for the receptionist to get back to me but that didn’t happen: nobody got back to me. The second room was stiflingly hot even with the heating off and ‘air con’ on. Apparently all the suites are on the front corners of the building where there is a preservation order on the facade ‘preventing’ the installation of triple glazing - it would cost money to properly triple glaze it but this hotel is about making money, not spending it. Breakfast was barely warm and items were replenished too slowly. Some of the chairs in the bar area were stained and squalid-looking. Overall, I’d say it was barely a 3* hotel with very poor customer service. The 50% refund for the first night never materialised either! A very disappointing experience not to be repeated.

We love this property and have stayed a few times when visiting Leeds. We are also Marriott loyalty scheme members. For the last year this hotel have had an issue with negotiating noise control with a bar adjacent and impacting rooms on one side of the building. We were allocated a room which was on the third floor right above this bar... Why were we still put in that room if the hotel know about the unbearable noise levels?I was asked a question, which I felt might have suggested why we had been put in that room - it was - have you booked through Expedia? After 8pm staying in the room became unbearable! We phoned Reception and they advised that the outside speakers will be turned down/off after 10pm. This did not happen. I was back and forth to reception that evening and they seemingly were texting the bar as on one occasion I was told that the DJ had turned down the volume... On returning to the room the base was even louder than before. This problem has been reported to Leeds City Council. We were told that there have been numerous meetings between the hotel management, the council staff and the bar owners to resolve the problem but to no avail. What I cannot understand is if the hotel know about this issue why put paying customers in not fit for purpose rooms? At the end of the day we book hotel rooms to get a rest... Unacceptable!

Positive: Central location and good restaurants nearby. Room was clean. Breakfast good. Close to Leeds station. Negatives: Bed hard and pillow really uncomfortable. Had asked for a quieter room away from excessive noise, as in Leeds for an early meeting the next day. I was assured it was. However, it wasn’t due to a lot of noise in the square at the front of the hotel. My sleep was really disrupted, especially as the bed was not comfortable either. Bit disappointed as, will be attending annually for this meeting and, thought this hotel would be a good option.

Modern hotel with good facilities in an excellent location. You get discounted parking in the main trinity shopping centre car park, but it’s still quite expensive and the car park is rather small so gets very busy on weekends.
