The room was not like the pictures. Bathroom was not good, had to bend over to use the shower and no counter space at the sink at all and no toilet lid with the toilet constantly running. The AC did not cool the room well at all and the staff were dismissive. Disappointing.

Was on the top floor in a deluxe twin which was very spacious and well appointed. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is next door to the Imperial Palace and a tube station so it is well located to explore the city. There are numerous places to eat nearby from very affordable to eye-wateringly expensive.

I was at Hotel Noku Kyoto on holiday and had an unavoidable work video call I needed to take from my room — not exactly what you plan for on vacation. The front desk team were absolutely brilliant. They made sure I had everything sorted, from a proper desk and chair to adapters and even a desk lamp, and made the whole thing so smooth and stress free. The hospitality here is something else. We'll genuinely miss the people and the whole experience — and we will absolutely be back.

Our rooms both smelled like cigarette smoke and there was confusion over one of the rooms that we had booked for three people, but which only had 2 single beds. It should have never been listed as being available for 3 people, and it took about 45 minutes to get it sorted out with the staff saying the disclosures should have told us it only had beds for 2 people. But then why did it ever show up as an option for 3 people through hotels.com? They had breakfast passes for 3 people for that room so clearly knew 3 were staying there, but there were still only beds for 2 people.

The bar was a peaceful place to relax and enjoy a drink after a full day out. It was situated in a perfect location being next to the subway station. We had the opportunity to experience the local feel of the place and to also enjoy the 20-30 minute walk to Potoncho alley for a completely different vibe. Catching the subway train 4 stops to kyoto station was easy for the day tour meeting-point. We were so comfortable here and wish we'd extended our stay. We will definitely be recommending Noku to anyone travelling to Japan and staying in Kyoto.
