I absolutely loved my stay at Hostal Vázquez de Mella in Madrid. The location is unbeatable, right in Chueca and just steps away from Gran Vía, surrounded by amazing restaurants, shopping, and everything you could possibly want within walking distance.
What truly made the experience exceptional was the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful throughout my stay. They even helped me book a special tour to Toledo and gave me great restaurant recommendations every day.
Honestly, for a hostel, this place feels much more like a hotel. My room was huge, very clean, had a private bathroom, and even a beautiful balcony. Everything was comfortable, quiet, and well maintained.
I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Madrid.

As promised the location was good. I had just stayed in Cordóba at a hostel that was way nicer, more amenities, super staff, even better location, for 1/2 the price I paid for this So I was underwhelmed.
If you want zero frills and to be in a pretty lively part of town, this is for you.

Stayed at this Hostal for 3 nights and I cannot recommend it enough if you just want somewhere to drop your bags off and explore the city.
Prior to arrival I had a few questions and messaged them through WhatsApp, they were very quick to reply.
In terms of location it’s at about a 2 minute walk from the Gran Via metro station and was not difficult to find.
All the staff were very friendly and spoke good English, always a bonus when my Spanish is very rusty!
No major negatives about this property, the private bathroom could allow for some extra leg space for its toilet as that was a bit cramped for someone who is 6ft2, the AC was a touch temperamental as well but the window fully opened so this wasn’t catastrophic.
Would absolutely stay here again in future!

The location was great, with multiple metro stops within 15 minutes walk, many dining options nearby, and a nice public square right outside its doors.
