Having to book a hotel in Liverpool during the Labour party conference was not ideal and choice was limited and prices sky high. However, I was shocked by the poor condition of this dated hotel. After checking in I then waited with several others for an age for the lift. Got to my room, opened the door and there was another door immediately in front of me. No gap, just a door. Very odd. The room was so dated it surely hadn't been decorated for 30 years or more. The bathroom was decent and modern, but the room was rubbish. Could not connect to the hotel wifi, but seemed that if I did it was 15 minutes free. Wow, just wow. There was nothing good about this hotel and for the price I paid for the night it is the worst value for money of any hotel I have ever stayed in.

Noise from event until past 1am without prior notice. Bad uncomfortable, key card opened other rooms and the sheets were dirty. I asked them to change and was told they would, but they did not. I will be pursuing a refund.

Unfortunately this hotel fell well below expectations, the beds and mattresses were in poor condition and very uncomfortable, with springs digging into your body. The shower and sink had no hot water, drunks causing noise in the corridor at all hours of during the night and early morning shouting and swearing. Street noise was unbearable very disappointing stay

A grand old building in the centre of Liverpool. It really needs updating, there was a weird smell in the halls and the room, the carpets are grubby, the windows and sill were dirty, lumps were taken out of the paint work. A real pity.

To say that this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at would be an understatement. The place is falling apart. The first room I got was leaking from windows and ceiling onto the bed. The second room had a bit of a smell like damp. The ceiling in other parts of the building was also damp. The curtain in the bathroom was a shower curtain and just to say covered the window. If there is one thing I did like about the place it was the breakfast but that was it. Stay here at your own risk.

Brilliant location, perfect for lime street station and city centre. Nice old building in a nice setting. Good value, good service from reception staff. Room was tidy and clean. The hotel is a little dated and could do with some simple features such as flowers on a table in the corridors and artworks on the walls. The front doorway area smelt of smoke. There was no plug in the bathroom to allow me to have a bath and there was some leaking from the shower head handle. With some investment this could be a wonderful hotel. Currently a good value and clean place to stay with wonderful location

Completely false advertising online, the hotel is extremely run down, very poor service and very slow. The rooms are awful, we had 2 guest rooms and one of the two had the ceiling falling down in the corner should not be fit for sleeping in, the window in the other room was jammed open, as if it’s been open 10 years and never closed Extremely overpriced considering the state of the hotel, I do not recommend staying here, for £170 a night you can find somewhere much better Beds uncomfortable, only offer you 1 pillow, no plug sockets next to the beds for phone chargers, lamps in the rooms and no ceiling lights, one of the lamps didn’t even work as the bulb was blown, won’t be returning, Not much breakfast Choice considering the price of rooms, the juices tasted horrible and milk had a bad twang to it, never again

The hotel is very convenient for getting to the railway station, shopping, restaurants and buses, everything is within a five minute walk of the hotel. The only thing I can say about the hotel is that its a bit dated and could do with modern windows, but because its a listed building this could be very expensive.
