What Guests Say About Their Stay

The room was lovely and quite adorable. We were able to drop our bags off before check-in so we could site see. Staff was kind and accommodating. Only complaint (and this isn't the hotels fault) is that the walls are super thin. We heard a couple arguing at 12am and it was hard to sleep. This doesn't effect my review of the hotel, but might be helpful information.

This hotel is beautiful, great location at just 15minute walk into town centre. Charge to park the car but it was worth it to have it nice and safe for the two days we were there. Gorgeous area, lovely walk into town. Hotel decor is tasteful but unique, lots of effort has gone into making the place charming. Our room was the Chocolate Orange suite which I highly recommend, the four poster bed is fancy and the bath tub was divine, we have never bathed so much in such a short space of time! The staff were friendly and welcoming, always available when needed and seemed happy to help. I have already passed on recommendations to friends who have enquired after seeing our pictures from our stay.

There is so much to recommend in this hotel, but there are issues which mean it's not reaching faultless. First, the positives. It's a beautiful building, down a lovely quiet road and a little oasis of calm from the traffic noise of the main road, and incredibly quiet at night. The rooms are quirky, with an eclectic mix of paintings and furniture, which adds character to the overall feel of the place. The bed was incredibly comfortable. However, for a boutique hotel, there should have been bottled water as standard, and not instant coffee and UHT milk. This was available but only if you asked. Now the negatives. It needs a paint inside, and minor issues need addressing. The cooked breakfasts are lovely, but the continental offering for a high end boutique guest house is poor. There was only oranges and apples on offer, standard Kellogs cereal, and the toast was standard sliced bread, brown or white, no other choices. The other issue was that breakfast felt rushed. We hardly had time to sit down when we were asked what we wanted from the cooked options, what kind of toast and drink. The cooked option was brought out before we had finished the cereal, and as the tables were so small, it also felt cramped. The staff were efficient and friendly, but if I'm honest, it lacked warmth. I would love to say I'd book it again, but sadly, I'd look for somewhere else. Thank you to the lovely lady from housekeeping who was a cheerful joy.
