Lovely place to stay. Pick a room with a sea view and you won’t be disappointed.

The hotel looked tired, tatty in places. Its redeeming feature is the staff, friendly and helpful. Wonderful views across the bay.

This hotel is shabby and needs renovating.

Room was dated, bathroom was shocking. Shower barely worked and covered in mould. Had to pay for public parking for first day. Just not the worth money. Some of the staff excellent, others just not interested.

Hotel is in a perfect location but it seriously needs updating and a fresh coat of paint. Rooms very shabby. I stayed in a ‘superior’ room but not superior in my opinion . I had to ask for toiletries as they were all empty or nearly empty. Reception staff friendly and helpful. I felt 10am check out was a bit early

Very shabby and dated

Our first and last time. We had too many dogs in hotel one in room above . Lounge more dogs . If we had known this we would not have stayed .The decor was appalling, badly needing painting , windows need replacing. Our bedroom window was held up by a block of wood couldn’t close it. A poster on window stated windows were heavy get staff to help. Dining room closed a cracked window!!!!! . Food ok but needed menu change. Old floors need sorted and in general it’s old and needing renovation. Plus side location . Please do something to this grand old building.

The staff were very friendly and professional and the breakfasts were of a good standard .and the position of the hotel was very good. The public rooms were generally fine but there are parts that are ready for refurbishment. Our standard bedroom had a bathroom that was in need of urgent replacement although it was clean

No mirror in room for my wife to view blow drying her hair. We had excellent view of sea from our room. Evening meal service was friendly and attentive. Bar service was slow but the barman was very helpful and informative. Overall not unhappy with our one night stay. Reception was very friendly and helpful.

We are traveling around Scotland in our caravan at the time of booking we were in Aviemore and wanted to have some time in Oban. From booking to check out we had a great stay

The breakfast food was delicious - a great range of choices and a very nice airy, spacious dining room. The staff in the hotel were unfailingly lovely - friendly, polite and helpful - very likeable. The room had a lovely view out across the ocean and over to the islands. The room had a nice carpet. The bathroom was clean. Check in and check out was easy and problem-free and the room doors had proper lock-and-key locks rather than hideous card keys. The room was well equipped with mirrors, which was very useful. Very cosy bed covering (duvet). The, the room was very hot and airless and I did not find the bed comfortable. The pillows were pretty cheap and uncomfortable to sleep on. Despite going to bed at about 11, I didn't manage to get to sleep (due to the poor pillows and stuffy airlessness of the room) till well after 2. Check in to the hotel was not till 3 - which we felt was a bit late. The little kettle in my room took absolutely ages to boil the water. The TV only had two or three channels which worked, which was disappointing. I could not get the water in the shower to heat up so had to shower in cold water - not fun. However, both my friends were able to get hot shower ok, so maybe I did something wrong. An idiot's guide to how the shower works would have been useful for me. Also, I hated the soap and shampoo dispensers. Overall, the hotel has very many strengths - but needs to spend some money - mainly on the basics.

Comfy room, beautiful view

Location is fantastic, really needs some TLC though. Beds comfy and slept well until slamming doors below at 6am.

Extremely dirty and outdated, I get this place is old but these rooms need to be cleaned better. My sheets were stained, there was a booger on the wall right next to my head, red and orange bacteria/mold all over the shower grout, springy mattress that poked into my ribs all night. Looked like someone blew their nose into the window curtains. I should’ve paid $70 for the night instead of $170, will not stay here again.

Lovely pet friendly property- great for ferry transport

Wall paper coming away from walls lifts not very clean doors sticking flooring very noisy cracks in hallway walls room stains on roof

A lovely stay with welcoming staff, nice food and perfect views. The hotel needed some investment with window frames and water damaged ceilings though.
