My husband and I celebrated his birthday at the R Hotel, and the service was extraordinary from start to finish. Every team from the restaurant to the front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and especially the gate personnel showed exceptional professionalism and genuine hospitality.
Special thanks to Shamoya and Vennissa for their clear guidance on Uber services and ensuring we felt safe during late-night outings. Deneissa delivered phenomenal guest service with warmth and efficiency. In the restaurant, Susan and Nakia provided fresh meals, pleasant smiles, and consistent courtesy. Housekeepers Lotoya and Cordell went above and beyond with daily fresh linen and laundry assistance.
The hotel is immaculate, modern, and beautifully maintained, with a fresh scent and stylish décor. Security protocols are strict yet reasonable, giving guests freedom with safety. The District 5 bartender (Asian features) was polite, respectful, and attentive.
A special commendation to Monique Gossop, whose hands-on leadership and problem-solving skills set the tone for the entire property. Even on short notice, the team created a wonderful birthday room setup that made our stay unforgettable.
Highly recommend this hotel delivers excellence at every level.

The breakfast is nice, and there are many food options. There is a pool, but it is in the middle of the restaurant, so not much privacy. There is a small gym with a fair amount of equipment in the basement. Guests receive complimentary bottles of water. The lobby is nice and newly renovated, but the hotel itself and the rooms do not give four-star quality; it is more like a three-star hotel with a pool and a good restaurant. The bed and pillows are comfortable.
Staff are friendly and polite. The cable TV did not work for most of my stay, which was disappointing. The area is okay, it's walkable to Devon House, the New Kingston Business Centre, Emancipation Park and fast-food restaurants. It may not be a great idea to walk alone at night, though, as there is a homeless encampment nearby on Dumfries Street. Overall, I had a pleasant stay.

Rooms were clean. All staff were friendly and professional. Denecia at the front desk was accommodating and polite. The views of Kingston were great. The Jamaican breakfast was delicious and a continental option was also provided. All in all I recommend R hotel for a central hotel in Kingston.

True review...spent three nights at the hotel. It is average. Clean overall, stains and damaged patches in the bathroom. No hot water pressure in the shower. No iron board in the room and when requested they indicated the have no more and were not in a position to provide one. There was no hair dryer, reception not provide when requested. Had to pick it up later, that too was not working. The traffic aroud the hotel is congested during the day till late in the evening. The cleaning staff are phenomenal, worth mentioning Cordell, who was always smiling and willing to oblige. So were most of the staff in general. I would truly rate this hotel between a 2.5 and 3
