Hotel rooms are a little dated, reception area clean and welcoming. Stayed during the recent heat wave and be warned the rooms (at least the two i stayed in) have no AC and are stupidly warm, was a desk fan in the room that was 15 years old (had a PAT sticker showing year of first test) the fan was loud and very dusty. Small fridge in room which is convenient
They have two EV chargers. Just have to download an App (of course!!)
The good thing about the hotel and why i stayed and will probably again is the decent gym and pool, without these definitely wouldn't stay again otherwise
Can't comment on the restaurant as I never used it but looks ok

Great if you like hotels in need of a little more care and maintenance.
I’ve stayed here dozens of times, and there always seems to be something in the room that doesn’t work: air conditioning, minibar, radiator, shower, hot water, window locks, steam room in the spa etc. etc. Other things are simply sub-par for £150 a night: heating noises, loose sink taps, broken shower heads, kitchen fan noise, kitchen smells, etc.
On this visit, the air conditioning was not producing cold air despite the attention of the maintenance man — a bit of a problem in a heatwave. Interestingly, from what staff told me whist I was trying to change rooms, a number of the units do not work, so upgrading your room specifically to get air conditioning does not guarantee that you will have a nice, cool night’s sleep.
Yes, I do report these issues every time, and maybe they do their best, but many of the issues simply roll on. Some of my colleagues have already moved on to other hotels in the area because they got fed up with not knowing what would and would not work.
I continue to stay because the rooms are spacious, the gym is decent, and Thatcham has good pubs and restaurants within walking distance — but the hotel is making that decision harder than it ought to be.

Staff very helpul but stretched, seemed to be too few staff for a relatively large hotel. Breakfast good, eat out in Thatcham both evenings. Room very good. Just for note it was the start of the UK heatwave and only deluxe rooms have a/c.

Good spot. Loved the pool with my nephews. Gym is poorly appointed. A million cardio machines with nobody using them and a very tight weights area. Air conditioning absent in gym and room. Room was super hot and £10 fans aren’t going to help.
Ask for an air con room at check in. My sister was gifted the joy of sleep. It’s wasn’t a terrible stay by any means.
Great staff, great bar, great location for our family get together in Newbury. Would stay again… definitely swim, think about using the gym, and get the air conditioned room haha.
People made it welcome and went out of their way to help us.

Lift "Out of Order", Jacuzzi "Out of Order", Chef "Out of Order". This is not a 4 star hotel, they seem to be struggling to maintain it and staff it sufficiently. After waiting one hour ten minutes for our food, two out of three meals were awful; dry, tasteless and covered in red chillies to disguise them. Most staff were lovely, they have a tough job there though.

Lift been out of action all the time we have visited over the last year,
2 tea bags could have done with at least 4

Stayed one night, room only. This is a great option if staying in the area. Very pleasant reception area and helpful staff. Our room on first floor was very lcomfortable and large enough for a sofa and sitting area with TV. Spacious bathroom. The only criticism is that the fittings are a bit outdated but worked fine. The pool is nice although the jacuzzi was out of action. We didn’t use it but there is a large fitness area with all the usual equipment. Plenty of free parking out front. Excellent value with Hotels.com.

Overall the hotel was a bit tired looking and in need of an update. Bathroom was not as clean as would be expected, particularly around the shower screen where black dirt had accumulated. We appeared to have been upgraded to a larger room, which was appreciated. However one of the sofa seats was worn and ripped. The staff were friendly and helpful but there were no receptionists on the desk at check out.

The hotel was ok.
We booked an executive double room, areas of it could do with updating the sofa was very hard and stained.
We were on tbe ground floor but we’rel left with no choice but to sleep with the patio door open as the heating was blasting out.
The Spa is in need of some serious attention, the Jacuzzi has clearly been out of action for months, and it doesn’t look like anything is going to be done about fixing it any time soon. The changing rooms are in need of a deep clean and tbe chairs in the spa reception are all in need of replacement as all have ripped upholstery.
One evening we went to the bar the glasses we were given were dirty (both had visible lipstick marks) breakfast was adequate for the price, but fairly basic.
