Great stop over before Channel tunnel. Tea and coffee provided for early start. Friendly staff. Street parking after 8 is easy. I think metered until 6. Not sure about business hours. Pet friendly and very convenient for access to tunnel in early mo ning

The view is wonderful, but I felt a little uncomfortable there - narrow corridors, unused sections of the hotel, doors without a peephole, relative isolation from the reception as no phone and quite a distance. The receptionist knocked on my door at 2.30am demanding I come out to discuss noise in the block. She thought it was from my room. I refused as it was not me. Apparently there was noise the next evening, but I slept through it.

A hotel that retains some it's charms of former years, a rare pleasure these days!

I needed a cheap hotel close to the Dover Ferry, and this was both close and cheap. Somewhat shabby on the inside, but again, typically what you can expect on a low budget stay at a 2 star rated hotel. Room was ok, bathroom very rudimentary, the 1st floor hallway smelled booze/drunkenness. The receptionist was very kind and serviceminded. Location was very nice. All in all, I got what I paid for and can't complain on other than the smell in the hallway outside my room. Would stay there again if traveling cross the channel.

On the back of the bedroom door is a card you can hang up if you do not want your room serviced that therefore implies the room would be serviced as would normally be expected. But it wasn't and when I queried it with reception they said the rooms have not been serviced since covid. If that is the case visitors should be pre warned that the room would not be cleaned, waste bins not emptied,no replenishment of beverage trays, no clean towels . You have to ask for these services .

Showers only give cold water, sink had hot

The hotel is directly off the beach which makes it a prime location. However, the hotel is old and has no air conditioning. In addition, you need to ask for a fan and hair dryer at the front desk. This is not a modern hotel, so if that is what you are looking for, this is not the place. There is no free parking included with the hotel. You can find street parking and walk to the hotel. The views from the room were beautiful!

Room was very clean with a beautiful sea view.

I have stayed at the southcliff many times over the years and find it absolutely great for what I need. The staff are always friendly and helpful and made me feel welcome as always. A big thankyou to the lady on reception called Shiril who was very pleasant and helpful with an issue I had with the room so thankyou so much. I love the location of this hotel and the view looking out over the English channel and able to see France on a clear day. At the end of the day it's a budget hotel and like with everything you get what you pay for, but in all honesty it suits my needs and I usually stay for two or three nights. The only disadvantage is that they don't offer breakfast but not really an issue as plenty of cafes etc in the town which is literally round the corner. It's perfect for a short stay and to be fair you are out and about most of the time so a perfect base. I will certainly be returning in the not to distant future and would recommend this hotel. Oh and try and book a room with sea view as better than looking out over a carpark.

Great place to stay for a weekend of music on The Leas, nice balcony room with a sea view, no food but a well stocked bar, would recommend for a weekend stopover

Having seen other reviews, we were pleasantly surprised to see that whilst the main areas of the hotel look a little outdated and in need of renovation, our room was clean and we were given a sea-view room. However, the toilet did not flush at all and the shower did not work; we only discovered this as we were getting ready for check out. There also appeared to be a potential asbestos risk with the flaking textured coating on the ceiling of the wardrobe with cracks in the ceiling and dust and debris on the shelf.

Yes sea view clean room staff are friendly

This is our favourite hotel we stay im Folkestone. Staff are so friendly & welcoming. They have a lovely bright reception area, tv, and a bar, lifts assessible to your room. Rooms are clean & tidy. Tbe hotel have been undergoing some modernisation, but this will take time. It was originallly five townhouses, so bare with the manager, this will take some time. You are a stones throw from the Leas Cliff Hall and the beautiful walk along the Leas as well. 2 minutes on foot & you are in the town centre. There is quite a bit of work going on in and around tghe town. We can't wait to see the finish, very exciting for Folkestone. There are many bus routes if you want to head out of town, there's a train station not far from the hotel as well. Plenty of bars and an array of shops. There is a market some days as well. Heading further down the town you will come across the Old High Street, a cobble road with art shops galore and many other quirky shops. At the bottom you will come to Folkestone Hatbour, look it up, it's welm wortba visit.

Spotlessly clean, lovely staff, tired decor but at the price it's tremendous

The bed in room 27 was sloping, so not the most comfortable. Very clean and tidy, can't really complain, for the price. My room wasn't facing the beach.

The door lock to our room didn’t lock properly, so we had to baracade the door to stop anyone entering during the night. Especially when the BBC news that weekend we stayed says unwanted people are entering hotel rooms with thefts and rape cases are on the up - Not good! The layout of our rooms have health and safety issues we could’ve easily tripped down the dark staircase from the bathroom to our bedroom. On a good point the rooms were very clean, so a great job from the maids\cleaners.

Clean, spacious and quiet room - even with a window open. Helpful and pleasant staff and good room servicing. The only negative was that the matress was very tired - if that is replaced or a topper added it would be a 5-star review.

Staff were excellent. Room was very clean. Bathroom was dated but still clean. Wifi EXCELLENT.

Very nice hotel. I keep it at my favorite place to stay in Folkestone!
