Homewood Suites by Hilton Waterloo/St. Jacobs

The service was absolutely horrendous! I booked the hotel well in advance and we had a family emergency so we couldn’t go but, they wouldn’t allow me to cancel or change the date so, we lost over $1000!!!!! Will never stay at Homewood Suites. I’ve always been a loyal Marriott customer but, thought I’d give this hotel a try but, what a mistake that was! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

We liked the room size, and the fact that it’s location was directly across from the theatre.

We stayed here on April 23, 2025. The staff were very friendly. The hotel was bright and clean. The room was large. They had a manager's light buffet in the evening which was wonderful. And breakfast in the am was also wonderful! We would recommend this hotel.

The 2 bdrm suite was very spacious. 4 adults and 1 child. The pool area was spacious. Lots of tables and chairs. We enjoyed our stay.

Excellent stay

We had a comfortable stay. The staff were helpful and friendly. The weekend breakfast buffet used disposable plates, cutlery, and cups, which was a bit disappointing. However, the weekday buffet offered a wider selection of food and used real dishes and cutlery, which was much appreciated.

Love this hotel, have been here several times and it never dissapoints

Very nice stay

Our sleep was disturbed all through the middle of the night with a very noisy heater. The beds were comfortable. Our breakfast food was good, BUT, we were not impressed with the paper plates, wooden forks, knives & spoons. We have been coming here for years to celebrate our Anniversary. The staff were friendly and helpful. They sent out maintenance to fix our headboard lamp and said they would definitely report problem about the heater.

I arrived after the 3 PM check-in time, yet the room was not ready. The front desk had to call housekeeping to check the status, and I was informed that a handle was broken. I had just driven three hours and wanted to shower and unwind, so I asked if the repair could be handled after I left, which they agreed to. Upon entering the room, I was immediately disappointed. The bathroom floor was covered in hair, and the broken handle was sitting on the kitchen counter. I called the front desk, and they sent someone from housekeeping, but instead of properly addressing the issue, they came with a sticky roller and asked me to point out the hair. I watched as they attempted to clean, but the roller merely pushed the hair around without actually picking it up. It was clear the room had not been cleaned to an acceptable standard, which made me question the overall cleanliness. Additionally, I was staying for two nights and had confirmed with the front desk that I wanted housekeeping to make up my room. I left at 7:30 AM the next day and returned at 5 PM, only to find that my room had not been serviced. When I messaged the front desk, I was told that rooms are cleaned after all checkouts, but by 5 PM, after a full day, I didn’t want housekeeping coming in so late. This was not in line with my expectations, as room refreshes are typically done during the day when guests are out. For the price and reputation of this property, I expected a much higher level of service and cleanliness.

Close to St. Jacobs market, very limited dining options within walking distance, room was a little dated and the mattress definitely was, power outlet right next to the bed was very overloaded. Only enough shampoo in wall container for 1 shower, and only 2 Kleenex in box by the sink (surely these are basic amenities that should be checked before arrival) and when booking I asked for a non-adjoining room, away from the elevators & not above the lobby but never received got a reply before arrival but this alone surely lets them know we wanted a quiet location. Our room was on the same floor as a young boys hockey team with some of them in the very next room and I'm sure a lot of travelers they can be incredibly noisy!

Close to the market & antiques for walking. Also close to Conestoga mall, for those bad weather days. Lots of restaurants within 10 minute drive. Jacks restaurant walking distance as well as a new local pub this spring to come. The market as well in st Jacob’s village lots to see. Local hotels are great for convenience. Great relaxing area. Always a pleasure to visit on a country drive.

Good place to stay

I have stayed in a lot of hotels in my time and this one is by far my favourite. I love the rooms. The staff is so accommodating, allowing me to leave my suitcase with them both upon arriving early to wait until I could return at check in time and also upon checking out, because I had all day to wait until my train time. This is of utmost importance to me. I do this getaway at least once a year an will always pick this hotel, as long as it stays in my price range. I guess if I had one hope it is that weekend prices were not so much higher, so that I could extend my stay even longer.
