Staff is amazing and very welcoming. The building is a historic hotel that has been modernized. The 5th floor where reception and restaurant is has stunning views of plaza and historic theater. My room was an interior one which meant it looked out into a small concrete courtyard. It made the room a bit dark and no view which may bother some people although I was fine with it. The room was quiet and peaceful. The hotel entrance has security 24/7 which made it also feel safe and secure especially later in the evening.

Everything from check in to check out was flawless. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The location was always fantastic. We were walking distance from the market and a 15/20 minute drive away from the airport. I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone needing to be in San Jose.

Pues, el hotel en si esta bien , solo hay unos puntos a destacar por ejemplo el desayuno 38 dolares por persona muyyyy caro , el parqueo 28 dolares y no puedes sacar el carro despues de las 10 pm , pedimos recomendaciones de paraueo y fueronnmuy pesados no nos an querido decir pues para que pagemos los 28 que cobran , lo bueno de este hotel es el lugar donde esta si quieres explorar san Jose centro es muy bien ubicado aunque creo es mejor quedarce en otro lugar y luego ir al centro en uber igual aparte del centro no puedes ir a ningun otro lugar si no es unber por ques muy peligroso yo tome el uber hasta para ir 2 cuadras, las instalaciones estan bien el restaurante es lindo , pudimos guardar el equipaje despues de entregar la aviación , la recepcion esta mal diseñada y necesitan explicarlo en los detalles de la reserva , No me senti con una calida vienvenida al llegar , digamos que para lo que costava no me senti esoecialmente tratado , me senti como un indijente pidiendo migajas ! Cuando escribes no te responden ! 💸 el desayuno 💸 los precios mas caros que en cualquier hotel de miami ! Me volveria a quedar aqui mmmm quiza solo si quiero estar en el puro centro !!! Sino quédate en escalante o sabana en una torre donde puedes ver los hermosos amaneceres es mas autentico en mi opinión ! Necesitan hacer sentir los huéspedes que son especiales así como los huéspedes escogen este hotel pensando que es lo mejor !

The Gran Hotel Costa Rica was once the most finest hotel in San Jose. While the hotel maintained its status over the years, it was obvious that it was in desperate need of a facelift. This finally occured back in 2018, and the hotel looks posh but has lost its old charm. The design is very modern and clean, but lacks any real sense of style. The area around the hotel is a pedestrian mall and is a bit sketchy at night. The hotel’s restaurant is good but expensive (ie. breakfast for two was almost $80). If you need a hotel downtown for business purposes, you can’t go wrong with Gran Hotel Costa Rica. Just don’t expect anything grand.

The hotel itself is nice, San Jose had a few very nice museums but didn't have a ton to do that was truly unique… very westernized sadly.

La ubicación es inmejorable, justo en el centro de San José, en la misma manzana se encuentran el Teatro Nacional y el museo del oro. Aproximadamente a 300 metros la Catedral Metropolitana, el mercado de artesanías y el mercado de San José. El servicio de primer nivel y el restaurante es bastante recomendable para la cena.

Hotel no centro da cidade, bem localizado. Café da manhã fraco, com pratos ruins. Quarto estava sujo.

Very friendly customer service.

This property had a unique look and was in the middle of everything. It gave you a realistic view of the daily city life in Costa Rica. Food was in walking distance with lots of options. The bed in the hotel was hard and uncomfortable but the area makes up for that since we were excited about exploring.

Stay was very nice. Comfortable rooms. Staff friendly. Really no issues.
