What a fantastic hotel, amazing staff, especially the receptionist who gave us brilliant ideas of places in the area to visit.
Hotel was immaculate, breakfast was lovely and plentiful and the view from the terrace was the sun sets was outstanding.

Had a great stay, room was good, quiet, clean, excellent view. Shower was hot.
The pool was a nice extra and we booked in for an hour with no problems.
Food was good, both breakfast and in the restaurant.
The grounds were lovely to walk around.
Staff very helpful
Plenty of parking
Definitely worth the price with our blue light discount too - will absolutely book again when in the area

I only stayed here as it was fairly close to Bristol airport..
The staff were very friendly upon arrival, reception and bar area all very nice looking but the room itself was very outdated. Don’t get me wrong I love an old building, but the room felt very tired and dirty. I’m glad I was only using it as a bed for the night to be honest.. if I’d booked as a spa weekend I’d have been very disappointed!

Voor de eerste kamer die ik kreeg moest ik door een gang en een hal, naar buiten en even verder weer naar binnen, trappen op om uiteindelijk in een klein kamertje te zitten, waar ik de ochtend nadien werd overvallen door mieren. Er werd mij dan een andere kamer toegewezen, in het hoofdgebouw, met een aantal trappen, bochten, gangen, weer trappen en gangen, en dan toch nog trappen om uiteindelijk in een piepklein kamertje te belanden, met een piepklein raampje met uitzicht over de lelijke daken boven de keuken, met de dampen van de keukenschouw waardoor je het raampje niet kon openzetten vanwege de stank. Kamer met vast tapijt met overal vlekken, klein meubeltje, geen lichtschakelaar aan het bed, verwarming werkt niet, geen airco, geen frigotje, rammelende soort van houten deksel in de wand, zeer verouderde badkamer, standaard Engels buffetontbijt, geen broodjes, geen beleg etc. In het geheel een zeer verouderd gebouw met verouderde voorzieningen. Veel te duur voor wat je krijgt.

The hotel is very tired and a real mix of old and new, it needs investment to get it up to scratch. The beds only had one very thin pillow and we were in room 119, which was pokey and tired, with a lovely (!) view of the bins right at the back of the hotel. I won’t rush back but it was only £65 a night. We didn’t eat there or use the facilities so can’t comment on them.

Unacceptable for £60. I expected to be able to sleep well at the very least. The place is out of date, staff attitude is no can do the "spa" comprises of two store cupboard sized rooms next to the weights in the gym. ( Not pool side but down the far end of the gym which you have to walk through) The sauna cupboard, fits 3 people, it stank of sickly sweat because it's used predominantly by local gym members, young 20+ men for sweating post work out. They walked in with out showering and in their gym shorts!...and the conversation was loud and crude. The changing rooms were public pool style with push button showers, no temperature control. This is a basic gym not a spa! So don't come here if your looking for an actual spa experience.
My room smelt of cold cooking oil as it was above the kitchen. The curtains let in so much light at night and during the day that I could read the time on my watch with out needing to turn on a light at 2am. There was no sound proofing. I could hear the chefs coughing downstairs in the kitchens, banging metal trays, talking and listening to music at 9 p.m. and from 6:30 in the morning.
I did not stay my second night but went to Day's Inn down the road for a comfortable clean quiet nights sleep and for £10 less.
Staff are under trained and probably poorly supported so are not able / willing to assist or use initiative.

Lovely character and for a convenient break is fine.
Pool you must b9ok swimming slots as only 6 persons allowed.
Steam and sauna is located oitside pool area through gym due to layout thats a bit inconvenient.
Female changing has no individual cubicles, showers are open for two persons with one wc, no family changing. Lockers provided and pool does have family and kids designated times.
If your unsteady on your feet there are rooms at back of hotel but outlook can be bleak.
Treatment rooms two but only one is quiet the other is smaller and can pick up pool noise.

We had a marvellous stay at this hotel. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was full of character, and the bed comfortable. We used the pool twice, with the booking system working well with the adults only session being honoured. We ate dinner in the restaurant - the food choice was great, and prices both for dinner and wine fair and reasonable. We will definitely stay here again when we next visit Somerset.
