Very nice setting for a hotel close to lyndhurst centre and lovely pubs for evening meals only one problem was no sleep at night due to traffic noise we needed windows open as in the heat wave but fan was provided excellent breakfast and comfortable room

Overnight stay due to ferry being cancelled due to heavy fog. Easy book in, Excellent clean and comfortable room, plenty of space, Kettle tea coffee facilities provided, excellent breakfast and good value for money

The hotel is straight forward and offers old fashioned charm. It is a little tired and dated, but clean and has staff who get on with things and are supportive.
My only negative is the electric car charging point. Or lack of one. The hotel has two outside plug sockets connected by a cable with a 13amp fuse. Guess what happens when two cars plug in, each drawing 10amps. The fuse blows! The outcome is you cannot rely on getting an overnight trickle charge of a only 2kw per hour. Which is around 100 miles for a 12 hr duration. And the hotels pricing for use of their socket is ÂŁ25, irrespective of how much charge you get. Clearly this needs a drastic rethink and is not a good advert for either customer service or safety

The hotel is situated a short walk from the centre off the main road. The staff were pleasant and approachable. The room was comfy and the breakfast was lovely.
My only criticisms are there was no lift so carrying heavy cases up a steep flight of stairs wasnât ideal and the bar is just a small fridge containing canned beer, cider and mixers with a limited choice of spirits and wine however there is a pub only 2 minutes walk away.

We have stayed at the penny farthing on several occasions, the staff are friendly, rooms are modern and clean. Breakfast are lovely. Dog friendly, dogs even get a sausage for breakfast, and a treat on arrival. All in all worth staying. We will return.

For a reasonably priced hotel in the New Forest during high summer season, it was excellent, and extremely clean. My shower was small, a bit temperamental with hot/cold water, but staff looking into it. Excellent breakfast, parking available and right beside Lyndhurst High Street, fantastic location. Staff friendly and helpful. Recommend!

Pleasant hotel. Looks a bit tired on the outside but fine inside. Sadly, we had two rooms facing the main road that meant our sleep was disturbed. Being hot, it meant that we had to have windows open. The rooms were clean, spacious and modern. Staff friendly. Nice breakfast.

La chambre triple sous les toit Ă©tait spacieuse, cosy, confortable et propre. Les fenĂȘtres de toit sont super pour gĂ©rer la tempĂ©rature en Ă©tĂ©. 2 Ă©tages avec escaliers Ă©troit sans ascenseur mais ça fait partie du charme. Par contre le gros bĂ©mol est le personnel pas du tout accueillant. Au check in, le strict minimum en terme d'accueil, au petit dĂ©jeuner pas un sourire et au ckeck out il n'y avait personne Ă la rĂ©ception et on nous a dit de simplement laisser les clefs. Petit dĂ©jeuner exclusivement anglais avec un menu unique, le reste du buffet est quelconque. Dommage qu'ils ne servent pas du cafĂ© Ă la machine qui est juste derriĂšre eux mais seulement du cafĂ© filtre. Cela reste un bon plan pour visiter la zone

We had a very small and basic room at the front of the hotel overlooking the main road and the road noise was horrendous.Due to the Agricultural show down the road it was busier than normal and we were awoken very early by the noise.Unfortunately as it was the hottest day of the year we had to have all the windows open just so we could breathe.
The TV didnât work and the Wi-fi was useless(the Management admitted that it was very hit and miss) - well why not do something about it!!
The toilet roll holder was broken and the towel hook on the back of the door was just hanging on by one screw.
This is definitely one hotel we will never use again and I would not recommend it to anyone.
