Parking at the back which was easy to find. Plenty spaces free while we were there in July. Gorgeous decked terraces at the back with flowers and lights. We entered car reg on the screen as we went in & went to check-in. This was an easy process and staff member was polite & efficient. We were shown to our room at the top of the first lot of stairs & the staff member explained about breakfast etc. Lovely sized room overlooking King Street. We were there during a heatwave, but the room was cool. Blinds were closed & one window open. Has secondary glazing panels also. A fan was provided (was noisy at first then quietened down). Large wardrobe & plenty hangers. A hairdryer was included. Had a sofa & a dressing table & mirror. This was also where the tea and coffee making products were. Biscuits, sweets & 2 bottles of water were also provided, which is a nice touch. Room was clean & bed was really comfy, nice mattress and pillows. Lovely bedside cabinets with lamps. USB charge points. Bathroom was a good size & clean, some toiletries, slippers & toilet rolls provided.
The pub area downstairs has an open feel about it & nicely set out. We had the full English breakfast which was great. Could also have bacon sandwich/muffin, eggs Benedict etc, cereal, fruit, juice, pastries if wanted. Pot of tea included. Sauce, jam & butter were already on the table. Had a great stay here, with no issues. Able to let ourselves in after being at an event after hours. Will definitely be back! 🙂

Had a lovely stay at the Rose and Crown. It was my husband's big birthday and they kindly had chilled prosecco waiting in the room for us on arrival! The room was very nice, ok bed big and comfy and they added a big fan as middle of a heatwave.
The pub is a beautiful 17th Century coaching Inn full of character, nothing like a corporate beige box, right in the centre of the lovely high street.
This obviously comes with some noise as you're on top of a pub. England were playing (winning!) so there was a busy atmosphere outside. They have added an additional inner screen to block of noise as best they can but you're not installing double glazing to a coaching Inn.
We loved our stay, breakfast was really good, staff friendly and would definitely return if we're planning on dining at Li-Ly's again. (Which was also amazing).

Nice pub BandB. Good breakfast and nice pub food for dinner. Great beer garden. Inspite of being over a pub it was lovely and quiet.

This pub was a great find, lovely staff, great breakfast, parking easy and free. The history was amazing. The Gaskell tower is a must.
We stayed in a heatwave , the room was warmer than expected, and we should have asked for a fan. The only slight problem, not the pubs fault, it is on the direct flight path for Manchester airport, they did stop flying between the hours of 11.30pm-6.00 am!!

Staff really helpful re parking and arriving back from wedding after closing time. Very comfortable room and good breakfast only slightly let down by not doing 'proper' coffee (only instant was available), the tea was fine.

Stayed one night at Rose and Crown. Stayed in a double room as that was all left when I booked.
Greted by a helpful member of staff and shown to the room. Bit small and one side of the bed was against the wall. Bathroom was a bit outdated and not a great shower.
Breakfast was great and Vicky was super. Attentive and polite.

Pros: absolutely plumb in centre of town, free parking at rear of Inn, great pub, lovely breakfast and excellent, friendly staff.
Cons: a tad expensive for what was a tiny room which badly needs an upgrade - carpet very thin and threadbare and shower was nothing more than a trickle!

A bit of a wait for breakfast and not the best. We had room 2 but moved to room 3 because the heating was playing up. These are dog friendly rooms and were both excellent for the night. Great staff and a warm welcome in nice surroundings
